Best 1 shot shotgun

What is the best 1 shot shotgun 12ga for bird partridge and jackrabbit. I want it light, wood stock, 28'' barrel with interchangeable chokes maybe? Nothing fancy just something reliable that i won't mind walk in the bush with. I have a Derya now its light but all plastic wich bore me a lot.

Thanks in advance.

Perazzi TM1.....you'll love the drop out trigger feature and the factory choking is beyond compare. Best part is the looks you'll get walking an old logging road with a Perazzi in hand!!

Once you had the POI figured out for the various distances, you would have a serious ground sluicing gun for grouse. If that was your thing. The choke constriction would be a little rough on the meat if you shot low though.

I have one in 16 gauge and it kicks like a mule, don't know if I'd want to fire one in 12....

In simplified terms, gauge has nothing to do with recoil.

Recoil is primarily based on the overall weight of the gun, the weight of the load of shot and the speed that shot is accelerated to by the charge by the time it exits the muzzle. Modifying factors are the fit of the gun and whether the powders is a fast or slow burning powder.

Boito made a “nice” single shot for a while in 12,20 and .410. They were stocked with mystery wood but did accept Invector/Winchokes. I still have the one my dad bought as our first gun, The older boitos were not any where near as nice.

For starters, you want a double barrel. The Browning BSS side by side was ands still is miles ahead of other less expensive double barrels and for the purposes stated in the OP there's no reason for changeable chokes. IC and Mod are ideal and if you find a BSS with tighter chokes, just get them opened up. I think a BSS currently sells for around 1 Bill, probably there are better deals available. IMO, the best upland version is the one made with a straight English style stock, modified beaver forend, and 26" barrels. As handy as a pocketknife, by gum!

The OP was asking about single-shots so please try and stay on the thread topic which again is single-shots not double barrels......

For the price of a Henry single shot in Canadian dollars, $600 for blued and $700 for brass frame, you could get a nice 870 Remington or Model 12 Winchester pump gun.
At that price, the Henry makes no sense.
Lots of Cooeys or NEF/H&R single shots around to be able to find one in really good shape. Replaceable choke H&R single shots are pretty thin on the ground, though.
I am not a fan of Chinese made guns, so they would be off my list.

I picked up a case-colored NEF 12g single on the EE cheap a year ago and it is a great light weight carry. Keep an eye out for those as they come up from time to time.

So I was in the same boat recently, looking for a single-shot 12GA for small game and such. Ended up getting the Midland Backpack shotgun with a 26” barrel. While it doesn’t have wood furniture (boring black plastic instead), it seems to be a good deal for the money (got it for $146 plus tax). It takes Beretta chokes, and supposedly will have additional barrels (22LR was mentioned) available in the future. May be an interesting and budget-friendly option if you don’t mind the plastic.
