Best 12ga autoloader?

I have taken them all apart, the fact is the Baikals' are scrutinized with an entirely different set of expectations. Somehow, "just working" vaults them into the category of much finer weapons. Brownings, Berettas and Benellis are not held to the same standards. These manufacturers must build guns that are as aesthetically pleasing as they are functional. They are not allowed the occasional hiccup or malfunction, they must go thousands of rounds without cleaning and they must retain their value no matter what, as evidenced by some sellers on the EE. You may love your Baikal, but it is built to a lower set of standards, a lower price point and with all due respect a different buyer. If it goes bang everytime you pull the trigger, it is doing what it was designed to do, unfortunately that is all it was designed to do. The same cannot be said for the other B-guns. Cheers,

Patrick

I will admit they are not as asthetically pleasing but definitely more reliable than my Gold or 1100s ever were.

I have not shot berettas or Bennellis but everyone who has one loves them.

I personally find the walnut stocked Baikals to be UGLY but the syntetic are nice enough. They were not just designed to be reliable but designed also to be affordable, unlike the berettas and the bennellis, Browning/Winchester... not too bad.

Fabarm produces some very nice semis too. They are light, and and a very good value compared to their Italian equivalents. The new line using the HP chokes also allows the use of steel shot with there full choke.

Isn't Fabarm Italian?

It is actually very popular everywhere in the wolrd but North america. There is no brand name recognition here because HK distributed it for many years.
Your comments not withstanding:rolleyes:

I will 2nd that, even in the Uk you will find fabarm is allmost every gun shop thats still going.
Fabarm does not really as good shot at the market as other brands over hear.
But that will change, TSE is doing a good job of it!!

I would like to say that I hear what you are saying but I do not. I am not sure if you are saying that Fabarm does not have a fair chance at the market or they do not really shoot as good?

Have you ever taken apart a Baikal? The major difference between the Baikal and the Beretta is that the Baikal has steel where the Beretta has plastic.

I traded my Browning Gold (which in my opinion is far superior to a Remington) even steven for a Baikal and I am very happy with my decision, I firmly believe the MP-153 is a better gun that the gold. Tough as nails, no issues with them and VERY affordable, the shop here on PEI sells them for $475. I believe Beretta, Bennelli and Browning make a great product but not a better product than the Baikal (maybe prettier but that is again a matter of opinion) if they are better they are definitely NOT 2-4 times better but are 2-4 times the price.

I have zero experience with bennelli but I have owned all of the others mentioned and I was not impressed.

I agree 100%

The Baikal is the best (robust) auto loader avail.
Little recoil as mentioned before.
Why spending more?

I must have been ripped off! I just took my 391 apart for the umpteeeth time and I can not find any plastic in it?

how about the mossberg 935 reasonable price shoots 3.5 inch shells looks good and the company seems to have a fairly good reputation

The Mossberg 930 and 935 are not bad for the money.

Problem is that the 930 can not handle the 3.5 inch loads. The 935 will not cycle the 2 3/4 inch shells.

I've owned a... Remington 1100, Benelli M2, Franchi I-12 and Mossberg 930.

The only one I've kept and love is the Mossberg 930; it's not as nice in finish as the italian guns, but it is as light and maintenance free. Where it differs is that it will digest anything you put through it and the trigger timing is lightning fast.

My 930 came with a 28" barrel and a 18.5" barrel :D Fantastic!

The 935 will shoot 2 3/4 shells i own one an i shot trap all summer with it but it does have some problems.Theres too much plastic in the gas assembly sometimes it will break espesially in the older ones. The trigger assembly went in mine but the warrenty took care of it.The gun works great now i also have baikal mp 153.The 153 is robust but they have some probs as well like the recoil spring getting coiled up an jamnming the bolt back.I don't think there is any auto that is flawless they do require regular maintanince/cleaning but alot of guys who own them don't know how to do this or are to lazy lol.A maintained auto usually works pretty good. Some of the cheaper guns are made pretty ruff an take time to break in i think the mp 153 requires 100 shells put thru it for example.Me personally if i had my time over i would of got a win super x3 instead of the other 2 guns, hope this helps....
