i own 8 1911's now.... cheapest being ruger sr1911, other end is a nhc talon 5", with les baer thunder ranch, sti trojan, 2x colt series70, springfield GI thrown in the mix.
frankly the best bang for the buck is that ruger sr1911..... it has every "usable" custom feature needed, speed bump grip safety, novak style sights, steel trigger, series 70 safety, the gun is well thought out and it comes with great grips that actually have texture.
i paid $675 for mine and i would recommend it to anyone new to shooting
