Best 1911 make

Hi guys,

What is the best machined and polished stainless steel 1911 gun? At least how makes it? STI? Kimber? ParaOrd? Springfield? Colt? etc... I'm looking for something nice, well finished all stainless steal gun that shoots reasonably well.

Any suggestions?

I would take an STI over a Kimber, but both are A+ guns. Haven't touched a Valtro, Les Baer, etc though so I can't comment on those.

comes into place... I'm thinking about Kimber, Para and Springfield... STI is quite expensive... but I'm keeping in mind them too.... since it's good to have one great gun then 10 crappy guns...

So, what do you think about Springfield? What about the only Canadian gun Para Ordinance?

I'm incredibly biased though as its the only 1911 I own. Got an awesome deal from Redleg on one a while back. A very dependable and beautiful handgun.

I'm an admitted Kimber fan but there are many other 1911's that are good, quality guns. Both Para and Springfield have a huge fan base (I plan on adding a Para to my collection later this year) and are both good, quality firearms. Probably the best thing to do is to look at as many different models as you can and see which offers the features you like at a price you can afford. Also, there are a number of different 1911 forums on the net so I would cruise a few of those and see what kind of info you can pick up. Many of them offer range reports on different makes so you'll be able to see the pros and cons with each gun. Good luck.

The best 1911? Is one made by a custom smith from a commercial base pistol.

Check out www. pistolsmith. com for some insight into this. Basically nothing you can buy off the shelf is "best".
