Best 22 bolt action?

OOOH an accurate bolt action 22 that can use aftermarket 10/22 mags?

And I just handeled a new browning Tbolt today, very very sweet.

DAMN THIS IS HARD!

I have to admit the Ruger 77/22 mag in stainless that I got to play with at the range a few weeks back was a friken sweet rifle. :)

If only it came with a Savage accu trigger. :D

I recently bought Savage Mk II, it comes with accutrigger and Simmons scope for under 400$. Heavy barrel too. Great shooter I must say, black synthetic stock but who cares. I am surprised there are no more opinions on this rifle here.

If you care about nice wood, get the CZ. If you have a lower budget, don't mind imperfect fit/finish, and want a rifle that is every bit as accurate...or quite possibly more so...get a Savage.

Savage makes some of the best BFTB(bang for the buck) rifles out there.

My sentiments exactly, Yuri. I've been preaching the "out of the box accuracy" story for years to people but a lot of times the noses turn up at the low price tags. The saying that "you get what you pay for" is true, but, with a Savage, you get more than you pay for in the accuracy department - a lot more.

My oldest Savage is a single shot model 3B. It has more dings and dents than a '72 Pinto but it can Robin Hood shots every bit as well as my BRNO #4 did and it beats the 10/22 by miles. I seriously do not understand why there is not a greater appreciation for the Savage lineup. This is not a pissing contest for me as I freely admit there are lots of excellent .22's out there (Rems, BRNOs, CZs....) but why overlook such an excellent "bang for the buck" firearm?

I also don't know why some turn up their noses at Savage. I have a 93R17BV and a Mark II-BV and the fit and finish is as every bit as good as anything else in their price range. I have not examined the plastic stock versions, but both of mine are laminate and they are close to perfect in fit, finish, and accuracy, at the price I don't know why everyone doesn't have one. :D

Which one do you like? They all shoot well, it just depends on what you're looking for.

Do you want a standard or a heavy barrel?
Factory sights, or will you use a scope?
Synthetic or wooden stock?
Stainless or blued?

Answer those questions and your choices will be narrowed down. IMO you can't really go wrong with any of them.

My personal choice: Mark II BV.

I got a stainless too:D :p

I suppose no one has tried the CZ453 with the set trigger. Does that trigger remove the rifle from Silhouette Hunter Class? That was my concern, although it could be fired with the full pull. Bashaw Sports thought it was a good deal . . . I still went for the Remington 504 . . . hell the money was in the account! Check the Savage Arms Mark II:

It looks good . . . you can always buy another if you don't like it!

The absolutely best bang for the buck would be the second hand whatever make cheap cheap (cheap) rifle. Nothing beats 50$, heck it will probably shoot better then some brand new guns. My mossberg 152K semiauto will outshoot brand new Savage 64 semi by large margin, and I got it for 150 with the scope. I mean I had 1" groups on 100yards with it. That is close to scoped Savage MkII with accutrigger and heavy barrel. Took some tweaking though...

The savages have always been good, and now with the accu-trigger, they are smoking. :D

Marlin also makes a mean 22. Their "mirco-groove" barrels are outstanding.

I'm not sure , but as long as the trigger broke at 2lbs., I don'tt see aprobblem with shooting it unset.

I think a shotgun would group better than a 64. It's hard to compare a savage to a Kimber, or a Mossberg to a Cooper.

This weekend is the Dawson Creek Gun and Sportsman show, Ill see what I can pick up there, will be sure to post pictures!

Thanks for the opinions fellas, keep em coming!

Just pick one of those savages up in 22lr. Will let you know how it goes. So far the only thing I dont like is the cheap ass plastic trigger guard which I had to crazy glue after it broke while taking the accutrigger tag off. It must have been overtorqued at the factory.

Anyone have a canadian number for warranty claims (or should I just drive to lakefield) ?
