Best .22 Bolt Gun

For the money, Savage mkII has got to be right up there. Lots of different stock and barrel options out there depending on what you like, they start at right around $200 and go up from there.

Best .22 bolt gun

It depends somewhat on how much you want to spend.......some of the European brands are excellent but pricey.
I have a stainless/synthetic Ruger 77/22 which has an ultra smooth action and that great 10 round rotary mag, but again, pricy.....
Get a book such as Gun Digest and have a good read before deciding..

The Marlin 981T must be one of the most accurate of the bunch and the regular trigger is so easy to adjust under 2 pounds, the tubefeed is more accurate than the mag, out of the 7 bolts RF i have, the 981T is the best shooter... JP.

Hello i was just wondering what you guys thought was the best .22 bolt

Thanks

You never stated your exact purpose, is it hunting, competition or all around plinker?

Repeater or single shot?

Most would agree Savage makes the best bolts under $500.
Most would agree CZ makes the best bolts for a little over $500.
IMHO the Anschutz 1400 series and IZH 7-2 are the best under or at $1000.

Assuming you want a sporter and a commonly available make, not some custom or special order rifle, there are Cooper, Anschutz and Sako.

At just under $2000 the Coopers and Anschutz 1700 series are my favorites.

We need more info from the OP to reach any concensus as to what constitutes the best .22 LR bolt.

A price and a purpose would help...

In the mean time, these are probably as good as it gets, for their respective purposes...

I've wondered if the Russian-designed toggle action biathlon rifle wouldn't be a close run for "best" .22LR rifle created. To shoot extremely well requires more than just the most expensive rifle on the planet. There is no substitute for trigger time with the best ammo.

Even if i love my 452 LUX, IMHO Anschutz 1710 and 1712 are beautiful, accurate work of art. One day i'll have the money for one.

... or a 50 year-old Cooey 600 for a hundred buck or less... as stated above, it all depends. My 7yr-old loves "his" Cooey.

This^^^^,,,,and the Remington 40 x

I took my CZ 452 American out yesterday that I just bought, used, at a gun show for $450 with two magazines. Blued steel, walnut and man does it shoot. Yellow Jackets just over an inch for five shots at 100 yards.

Handsome, smooth action, light, and super accurate gopher gun. That meets all my requirements.

Remington 547 is nice. $1100 from the custom shop.

I like the Rugers. They're nice, and they can use all the 10/22 mags and loaders.

ruger 77/22, savage mKII, Marlin series, cant comment on the european stuff have not tried it out. But of these three, the ruger 77/22 is the top in my mind. Plus you can use the 30 round mags in the ruger 77/22.
