If my eyes were better, I might still own my recommendation=BRNO 2E. A CZ452 Lux was a newer version of basically he same gun. Most fun I've ever had shooting open sights.

CZ 452 if wanted to buy used perhaps 457 if new. I understand that the 455 were not necessarily great. I love my CZs well made, value for money and seem to have staying power!

Same barrel on 455/457 but I agree with your first sentence for sure since the change in bolt arm throw on the 457 series. Love my CZ's as well.

Bolt action with magazine and open sights - I own a BRNO #1 and a CZ Scout that would fit that - but both have the lever safety "backward" compared to most North American rifles. I understand that was resolved with the 457 series. If so, I would suggest that one. Savage make various rimfire that use magazines as well - probably less expensive than CZ products?

Savage B22 is very accurate and under $400 in synth, but most not with irons. Advantage is rotary mag that doesn't stick out the bottom. MKIIs are about as accurate and many come with irons, but stick mags - usually around $300. These seem to be the most accurate for the money - I put a Covenant C-4 6-24x50 FFP ($500 w/tx) scope on my B22 and keep around 1/2 - 3/4" @ 50.

OP, that's an open question. If you would give a few more details about you wants or needs, you might get a more detailed answer.

-What's your budget?
-What purpose are you using it for? Target, Hunting, Plinking?

Anschutz 1727 F German .22 $3995

Or could just get what 95% of all of us got for their first 22 bolt (tube mag) learn your fundamentals, gain some experience, then if you're here to stay...buy another, and another....etc.

Cooey 60 $150-$200

If you're looking for one of the best sporter repeaters ever produced, the 40x fits the bill however, although they are drilled and tapped for sights, most of them came from the Remington Custom Shop with scope rings. Easy though to fit them with sights.

Now there is a extremely rare and pricey rifle. Would love to have one to go with my single shot 40x but i cant afford one if i could find one.

That is why I suggest an Anshutz, as they aren't as good, but cost much less.I picked up a nice repeater with 64 action for under 400 dollars used.A single shot old 40x is on the EE for 1900 dollars.

Yes very expensive. Alot more expensive than the single shot 40x and far more rare.
