Best .223 Brass for reloads?

Meh, a chamfer/de-burring tool makes short work of the primer pockets on crimped brass. I just put the tool into the primer pocket and give it a quick 180 degree spin with some mild-moderate pressure. Presto, the crimp's gone and I get flawless priming. Other than that minor annoyance, Federal makes great brass for the economy shooter. If I had to give up all my IVI brass, I'd probably only use Federal AE brass in my AR15s.
That said, if you want to go with another make, then by all means. The only thing that should really matter is that you stick to the same manufacturer for your brass. Mix-matching is asking for lousy groups at best and a Ka-boom at worst.

I use strictly Winchester Brass in my Savage 223. Either factory loaded that I save to reload, or just bags of Winchester Brass ready for reloading. Easier to work with, takes the minor abuse of the 223 and lasts plenty long enough.
Since you are just starting out the brand of brass is likely the last thing you need to worry about. Stay away from crimped .mil brass as it is a PIA to reload. Otherwise just use whatever brass you can get. Once you have been at this a while you will develop likes and dislikes for components and tools.
Nothing wrong with it. You'll put it to good re-use. Just keep an eye on if there's a crimp. Some makes of PMC ammo do have primer crimps, some don't.

Easily avoided with a Dillon Super Swager. I swage all by .223 brass just in case.
And the primer pockets are off-center. This stuff is real garbage of late.
Winchester factory brass serves my needs. Otherwise, I'd recommend Lapua.
Same here. Some older winchester brass for targets and lapua for some targets and all hunting loads.

I've NEVER had good luck with Federal brass in any caliber. I find it too soft, and the primer pockets feel much looser.

FC = junk IMO, all once fired brass i had all had loose primer pockets across all caliber ranges.
If Lapua is out of you price range go with Winchester and match prep it yourself. Recently purchased 300 223rem cases the quality is good hope to do some test over the next few weeks before my next F-class match.

If you want cheap ammo to burn through and be left with some pretty good brass at the end try and find yourself a bunch Privi Partisan. I got a case of 1000 for just over $13 a box or just under (don't remember for sure on the exact price). I don't reload for my 223 but use this brass to reform into 20 tac brass and it is top notch. Not Lapua but pretty darn good for the cost.
