Best .22lr option if I can only own one.

Looking for a .22lr that is virtually jam free and easy to clean, and I only plan to buy one for hunting and plinking.

Recently I need to downsize. So I am selling off every .22 I own in hopes to get one, and one only. Im open to semi and bolt.

My budget is about 600 ish.

Nothing is easier to clean and more jam free than a bolt gun. For hunting you want accuracy (bolt gun) more than anything else, and for plinking you want something that isn't a pain (probably want box mags, not single shot, not tube, etc).

You want something relatively light for hunting, but accurate enough for plinking at the longest ranges you enjoy.

Sounds to me like you definitely don't want a 10/22.

With any one gun to suit all needs, you will never have the best gun for any particular application, just a good enough gun that will still be enjoyable to shoot. Any of the Savage Mark 2s or Cz 45Xs with an average length varmint barrel would not disappoint.

CZ 455
or
Anschutz 64 (one for sale for $550 on E.E)

It all depends what you are planning to do with the rifle. Check out this review from 2015.

I haven't owned or used as many different rimfires as a lot of members here, but if I kept only one of my existing rifles it would surely be my CZ453 Lux. Levers are fun and autos are a riot but a quality bolt with awesome sights is my favorite.

Figure i will get in on the 10/22 as well and yes ive had a few dozen different .22 rifles to boot. My most recent was a Cz model 2E which is more or less a 452 Lux. I have 2 10/22’s which i have no plans to get rid of which are essentially stock with some trigger mods. One is an international model with apreture sights and the other a compact model with factory laminate stock and fire sights with a base when i feel like putting a scope on. I really like the flush fit magazine and how customizable they are and if kept clean they just work really well. If i only had one it would be a takedown model with a couple barrels with the factory apreture/weaver base. I have a family though so need a couple of rifles. Also like how i can swap stocks easily so i have mine, a stock for the wife and will make one up for each of my boys when they get old enough/grow out of the rascal. Good luck with your one rifle, I will probably get another!
