Best .22lr pistol?

A nice quality pistol is a Beretta 71, they are great little shooters. GSG's are good too, but they are not as well made in comparison.

Thanks, I was actually asking about the slide pull. It will be used by my wife quite a bit, and she has a weak arm due to a long term injury.
the slide pull is determined by the recoil spring. .22LR is such low energy that it is an extremely light spring. i cant imagine that anyone who is capable of holding the pistol and firing it would be incapable of racking the slide. that being said there are .22LR pistols which so not require racking of the whole top frame so it is slightly easier. a perfect example are the MK pistols. the slide just comes out of the rear of the barrel almost. that being said, any .22LR pistol is extremely easy to rack.

they are all light pulls.
my daughters have no problems with them.
im just thinking in my head about them all and i cant think of any that have a hard pull.
nothing like 9mm semi (or 40 or 45's)

i cant imagine anyone having a problem racking a 22 semi even with a hurt hand.
if you can grip the gun racking it wouldn't be a problem.

my wife is kinda a prissy when it comes to racking guns, she just cant figure it out (glock, M&P, 1911) but she has no problems with any of the 22's.

Since the OP's budget can be $1500, I suggest the Walther Olympia or Olympia Jaeger. The copies (Hammerli, S&W, Norconia) are also worthy and fit various budgets.

The design is simple and excellent. Takedown is simple and takes less than 5 seconds, with no tools. The gun itself is robust, accurate, reliable. My TT Olympia clones digest virtually any ammo. The shorter barreled "Jaeger" variant even LOOKS cool.

My only beefs are that it has an internal hammer (so it is hard to decock without a dry fire event) and the mag release isn't conducive to fast mag changes, at least for me.

No they don't. They make junk that looks cool and disappoints the owner. That was my experience along with 2 fellows at my range.

Ruger MkII would be my recommendation.

I haven't been disappointed with mine. Sure the finish isn't great but she runs beautifully. 2000 rounds in it so far only issue is with certain kinds of bulk ammo.

Buckmark if you want best out of the box performance and find a model you like.

I chose the Ruger MKIII 22/45 instead because I like the weight and feel, plus it's been around for generations and the receiver is all steel. I got the 4.5" threaded barrel model because I wanted more of a combat style of pistol and am not a fan of 5.5" or longer pistols. I've put Hogue rubber grips on mine (pic is stock grips), plus the Sam Lam bushing to get rid of the mag disconnect safety. Trigger still not as nice as Buckmark, but I don't care - I'll master it. I just love this gun.

Thanks, when you say MK pistols, do you mean Ruger's 22/45 model?

I have a Buckmark, Ruger MK2, and GSG.

Out of the box the Buckmark has the best trigger, is most accurate, most reliable, and easiest to clean, but CANNOT be dry fired.

Ruger MK2 almost as accurate, trigger is almost as good, almost as reliable, can be dry fired, but PITA to clean.

GSG fairly reliable, lacking real accuracy, crappy trigger, can be dry fired, but also has magazine disconnect (which I hate).

Personally I believe in dry firing for practice, so I don't like the Buckmark as your only pistol. The Ruger MK2 is the best offering you will find from Ruger, the MK3 and 22/45 are just not as good, and also have a magazine disconnect.

For 1911-22 try the Colt Gold Cup. They are far better than my GSG or the Browning 1911-22 I tried.

My favorite of all time was a S&W mod 17 K22.
Not a pistol however. I would say you can't go wrong with a Ruger MKII or MKIII. I just sold my MKII Target Bullbarrel, now I have none. :(

I have an old Challenger 2 as well as newer Buckmark URX. I dry fire them both (sort of). I pull the slide back about 1/16", hold it back, pull the trigger, and gently lower the slide. No impact, no damage, no problem.
