Best 338 Lapua for the money

i have the savage 111/11 ( i think?) LRH and its a fantastic rifle that dosent even kick that bad, also good price !

There are not a lot of "good" cheap options for rifles in this caliber IMO, the TRG 42 is a great shooter with just about any factory ammo and gives a lot of value for the money.

A full custom rifle is good if you never plan on selling it (people always upgrade or outgrow).....Resale value is next to nothing in my experience unless someone was going to build the exact same thing comes along (never happens)

DTA or now Desert Tech was really good value for what you got, now with the huge price increases it is hard to justify when looking at what they use to sell for.

If you buy an entry level rifle and spend a ton reworking it over a few years only to outgrow and upgrade anyways, you should have just saved for a better rifle to start with IMO. At best, You will have lost all that money you spent on the upgrades, at worst, you have even reduced the resale of the rifle further than if it was box stock

I just picked up a TRG-22 and I am extremely impressed. I've always wanted one and it is every bit as good as I imagined. If I was in the market I would go for a TRG-42 simply based off of my experience with the 22 thus far. I am currently moving funds around for a 42 but in 300wm, not 338L.

The actions are smooth as glass and the trigger is out of this world :)

Look beyond the lack luster 338 Lapua...
300 Norma or the 338 Norma are superior options really...worth a read up on em

Uh Huh. I bought into that "theory" and can say from experience that everything the Norma offerings can do the Lapua does better.
I like my Norma's but I need MORE elevation to make the same trip my Lapua does.

Well when it comes to a mag fed useable round the 338 lapua falls short on 300 gr bullets. CIP mag length mags still keep a 300 gr bullet in the case to far. Lapua is fine if you wanna build a single shot and throat it out...they are good. A 338 Norma fits in a mag with a 300 gr bullet and will be faster on a comparable 26 barrel...
That's is you were leaning towards custom built rifle. If you are leaning towards a factory built thing the TRG is perfect for you...what ever the purchase...get out..shoot and have some fun dude

Does 338LM and 300gr'ers have the same magical internet problems that a 260rem and 140gr'ers has?? lol

Agreed ALL mags are waaaaay too short for the 338 Lapua when the 300 gr pills are seated out where they should be, but then again 99% of the actions made are also too short both in bolt throw and port opening.
If the plan is to go custom , then the 338 Lapua Improved is thee way to go. A 300 gr bullet going 3000 fps is worth the cost of the custom dies.
