I think you have to go with good stories. The Templar is heavy but most range reports I’ve read and guys who’ve used them at matches have good things to say. The Stirling is probably better but a bit pricier. All the other 180 based guns have reports of issues.
When looking at prices, keep in mind that higher production numbers and sales result in lower prices. I doubt many are buying the Templar and Sterling.
I have 2 BCL rifles and had smallish issues but BCL, even without Carrie went above and beyond to help me and solve them.
To me, that's important, I did not hear a lot of good support reviews about your preferred rifles, you say they don't have any issues, but IF, you are stuck.
For the recreational shooter who is shooting maybe a few hundred rounds per year, money is an issue too. If I shoot 5K rounds per year, the cost of ammo outweighs the cost of the product, so I will aim for the best rifle there is.
Maybe the best field rifle in a war is the CZ Bren 2 but as I mentioned before (which Bartok5 did NOT read), my comment about accuracy does come from youtube videos and NOT from a poster here, which he of course discredited right away since only he can be right (as usual).
He also made some comment about the VZ58 and "you can't mount an optic on it", which he clearly gathered from some Internet discussion, comparing the Bren2 and the VZ58 but NOT from owning one. Just don't comment if you have no clue, please.
I remember a while ago I sent a PM to Bartok5, a friendly one, he did not even reply, so all the credit he deserves serving our country and got wounded, go right out the window when you act like a "I know all" kind of person.
There was also a post a while ago where I questioned his integrity, he had a rifle listed on the EE and the ad says "only 200 rounds", but he posted before that he shot it 4 to 500 hundreds.
He called me out on that as if it is no big deal. Maybe not for him but for the buyer sure is.
Just setting the record straight.
