I ran a 7mm-300 Wby for a while. Once I built a 7 STW, I sold the bee, but ballistically they were almost twins, aside from the Wby freebore. - danPerhaps some old school stuff. Picture taken for another purpose a few weeks ago - I thought CGN might want to see - 7x57 case on left - I have taken many dozen head of deer with that one since year 2000 or 2001. Centre is 7x61 S&H - I think that was Phill Sharpe's development for his idea of ultimate North American hunting cartridge - I read it was the "push" for Remington to develop it's 7 mm Rem Mag - most European rifles had 26" barrels, I think Remington mostly used 24" barrels - about no one then had chronographs, so there was probably not much actual difference from shooting table? On right is my latest - so, a "wildcat" - 300 Weatherby necked down to 7mm - so MUCH longer than 7mm Weatherby - I have never fired it yet - I understand one can use Start level 7 mm STW data to get going on this one. The rifle is my first ever Remington 700 action. The barrel is circa 28" long, "stainless steel" - not blued or coloured - with a machined / integral helical "brake". I have not fired it yet - I did pick up some H1000 powder and some 160 grain Nosler Accubond bullets, to start with that boomer.

Good little cartridge, I still have a TC in this one. Had the 7mm Int-R as well (predecessor to the 7-30 Waters) , which hit the rams a little harder. - danDamn, I forgot my TCU. They say that memory is the cirst thing to go![]()
You should post this in the Gunsmithing section.Ok, you've talked me into 7mm.
I'm convinced I'm building a 7mm Practical on a Winchester 70 classic action in M24-40 contour. I don't hear a lot of talk about that chambering in Canada, but if you know a gunsmith with a reamer for that, let me know please.
Do you still have this rifle/cartridge ?I’ll play. Years ago I was trying to decide on which 7 I could build that would shoot a 180 over 3000 without being stupidly over bore e and have a reasonable barrel life with no belt. Decided on a 7 LRM. Long necks pushing a 180 Berger at almost 3100 fps. What’s not to like.
YupDo you still have this rifle/cartridge ?
