I’m fairly new to reloading, have reloaded for some hunting rifles and a varmint rifle, but I’m now getting interested in long range and precision shooting.

I’ve currently got an RCBS 5-0-5 scale. Is this scale accurate enough or should I upgrade to something else?

I have a Lee and a Hornady scale, both work equally well when compared against each other. I'm quite happy with them for now, but may get myself a digital scale someday.

No need to upgrade. I have a LEE scale and it's very reliable. I'm also new to reloading and just had the impression that digital would be better. After a lot or reading and figuring out how to actually use the beam scale I've changed my mind and know it's reliable.

Same goes for me. I was thinking I’d have to upgrade to a digital scale but after a lot of reading on the forums i found a lot of folks prefer the good old beam scale. I saw a lot of talk about the 10-10 scales, but not much was said about the 5-0-5. Rather than spending hundreds on a digital scale I’d rather put that money into case prep and dies.

I have both an RCBS 10-10, and the bigger 304 [out of production now]
They are accurate and dependable.
I have electronic scales as well, but still check them against the beam units regularly. Eagleye.

Been using a 505 since 1989. Totally reliable and consistent. Just check it’s zero occasionally and when I have to move it to a different location.

The Zero of this type of beam scale changes when the surface it’s laid on is not perfectly level. That’s why you need to check zero.
