Best Bedside Defense Shotgun

What would be the best bedside defense shotgun out there?

A shotgun that is only ever going to sit beside a night table and be used for defense.
I would like to keep in mind of storage laws, so no restricted firearms.
As the shotgun cannot be stored loaded and the ammunition must be stored separately, in my opinion a shotgun that accepts a magazine would make more sense than a tube fed shotgun as the magazine can be filled with shells and kept in the drawer complying with being "stored separately" and quickly and easily allow for loading the gun.
Also, a short stock for maneuverability and a short barrel and seeing that the longest shot would be 30 feet or so and a large spread would be desirable.

Any ideas or thoughts?
 
1. In Canada you cannot use a gun for defence!
2. Storing a loaded mag in you beside drawer is not responsible or stored properly.
3. What spread do you expect at 30ft?

I'm sorry but my only thought is that unfortunately as it stands right now in Canada, you will probably need the best 'Shotgun Defence' you can get from a TEAM of lawyers after you decide to protect yourself in your own bedroom with a firearm. :(
 
If someone breaks in you will defend yourself and your family with whatever means you have available. You will worry about the consequences afterwards. If you are not prepared then you family will get raped and killed because you are afraid of getting charged.
 
Put a real safe by your bed, with an AR15 or pistol with charged mags beside it. All legal.

Get a good lawyer and make sure you have lots of money if you shoot someone.
 
and like most every other thread it turns into a useless thread full of comments from wanna be lawyers. Why can't people just answer the question asked instead of throwing around their opinion and spreading their anti gun "AGENDA" around????? It is almost as if there are a bunch of liberal anti gun spies on this forum.

I apologize, I dunno much about mag fed shottys but I did fire the dominion(I think) in the 12 incher and it was quite nice, a buddy brought it out one time. I think they run about $400? please correct me if im wrong. Are you completely against a tube fed?

Our laws were created in such a way to make it almost impossible to use a properly stored firearm for self defense.

Anti gun agenda? Nothing is more anti gun than reading post after post from those who welcome and fantasize about having to use their firearms in a life or death senerio.
 
Hey MetalMike. Thanks for your input. I would prefer a magazine fed shotgun as it is easy and quick to load them. Feeding a tube with someone breaking into the house could be a little time consuming, especially when the adrenalin is going.

It is not illegal to use a firearm to protect your life or the life of your family members. As long as you use reasonable force. If you shoot a kid with no weapon trying to steel your lawnmower you are in trouble. If you shoot a guy that has a knife or a gun and is trying to kill or rape your daughter you are okay.

Use your brain a little.
 
I've just heard too many stories of poor feeding with detachable mag feds to want to bet my life on one. In a panic the mag is jammed in, bending the feed lips and its nfg. A reliable old 870 with a short barrel and a surefire foregrip for light sounds best to me. Hypothetically speaking of course...

Sorry for the questions and derail just curious,

All I got was this

section 40. Every one who is in peaceable possession of a dwelling-house, and every one lawfully assisting him or acting under his authority, is justified in using as much force as is necessary to prevent any person from forcibly breaking into or forcibly entering the dwelling-house without lawful authority

Is this the right one or am I interpretting this incorrectly?
 
In an emergency, how quickly could you grab a box of shells and feed 3 or 4 shells into the 870. My thought is just that the magazine is loaded. All you have to do is slap it in the gun and you are ready to go.

I guess with practice you could get pretty quick at loading an 870.
