I tried to order a Stevens Model 200 from Cabelas , and was told that Stevens was not making them anymore.....so I purchased one from the Gundealer ( 300Win.Mag. ) , and they also told me that Stevens had discontinued them and that they were unable to order any more....that was around a year ago....I think they said it was being replaced by the Savage Axis.....
A Trade-ex FN-98 Mauser.......
I whole heartedly recommend the Ruger American rifle. It is the best in the price range. I have one in .243 and it has far surpassed my expectations.I might even grab a 7mm-08 or .308
YOU WILL NOT BE DISAPPOINTED. My Howa's are SOOOOOOOO nice and smooth. One wears a Hogue stock and is stainless, while the other is older with a nice wood stock, blued with open sites. I can't count the times I have been offered money for either or both. Every single time one of my friends or associates picks up one of the Howa's they pull out their wallet and start with the offers. One of the best kept secrets in all of the gun worldWhile i agree that the vanguard is above the others,it's not in the poll and it is more expensive than the poll choices. Having said that, i just picked up a mossberg /howa 1500 in '30-06 that i'm looking forward to trying out.
this ^^you missed the marlin x7 series.
Other than the lack of a detachable mag (if that's your thing) it beats the axis hands down.
