Best eating deer.

I just read back through this thread for the first time. It makes me sick how many PETA members we have on here! GTFO!!

The young un looks ecstatic! I bet he had the time of his life! Good stuff all around!

I'm not sure even Peta could find fault in a hunt being conducted strictly for management reasons and all the meat was utilized.

Always someone willing to piss on someone's parade. Makes you wonder why people even bother posting their success. Congrats on the hunt Chuck.

I've got 4 tags this year myself to fill and have filled 3 already. Our family needs the equivalent of 4 deer (and a few dozen game birds -- not to mention a couple hundred pounds of salmon) a year to keep us in meat. I've filled 3 tags already and am slowly working on the last one. Last year I only shot one deer but the moose compensated for the missing venison:D.

Ya, we shot 6 last week and stacked them all in the truck with the hides on and never felt the slightest bit guilty either. I do want to hear more about Chuck's knitting though...provided the wool came from free-range non-genetically altered sheep......:D

Right now we have two hanging (we don't let any spoil or go to waste, as is the law as well as good hunter practice)

We will be putting about another 12 or so to hang in the next week.

Then one big day butchering...:)

Do you have a price list? I need some new merino wool socks :D
You'll never know what you're missing until you've tried one of these for a cold stay in the tree stand!

I think it's a nose and chin warmer.:D

With the title of this thread, I was expecting a different conversation.

I find Mule deer taste better than White Tailed deer, though I usually make that comment to a chorus of catcalls and inquiries as to my personal sanity, or ability to taste LOL! I also generally prefer the taste of buck meat over doe meat, provided they have been handled and hung properly.

Good to see a pickup full of groceries chuck!

Just as a side note,... I try my very best to get my animals cooled down ASAP,.. I really think it makes a difference...

We used to go to the extent of laying them on bows or a pallet in the truck so as to let the air circulate around...

There are a million do's and don't's and personal preferences...
