Best gun oil for semiauto shotgun?

tears of an anti. the tears are free as they leave them every where.

+big grin+ This made my day.

On my last clay day, we had the whole lube team come to the rescue. May pal's new Auto5 wouldn't cycle. My 1897 clone wouldn't fire. We just stuck to pumps.

After a refreshment, a chat, and the wymin-folk leaving, we got to work. Three drops of G96 in the action of the Auto5, and a generous WDouch-40 for the '97s firing pin, guess what was heard after that.

The only oil to use is Ballistol. Use it on metal wood and leather etc. Non Toxic and smells a lot better than Hoppes. Will not GUM UP the action and provides superior protection from the harmful elements. It works as a CLP

Whenever I hear "Ballistol" I think of this video. There's a song at the end. Makes me laugh. Canadian content.

I was a strong suporter of G96 for the last 10 years. Then I tryed Frog Lube. I cant beleave how well this stuff works in all my semi autos. I have a Browning Gold Semi with around 15 000 rounds through it and it has at least doubled the amount of rounds I can put through it before it starts to cycle slowley with trap loads.

I think motor oil would be gummy inside an action.

Oil is pretty much oil. Anything that can stand up to the inside of an engine (or transmission; ATF is another option) will work just fine on guns.

Ken Hackathorn, for one, uses and recommends Mobil 1 synthetic oil.

I also recommend BreakFree CLP. Using it on the magazine tube, pistons and gas cylinders will not allow carbon to bake on. Clean up is a wipe with a rag.

I tried spray on silicon on one of the A-5's here and it wouldn't cycle worth chit.
WD-40 is fine if there is nothing else around, but why pack it instead of the
proper oils?

Stag Gun Oil.Available at Home Hardware Stores.

I think you and I are the only ones left using it ;) By far the blue syn is the best stuff ever especially for long term storage of guns. I thought it was long gone 20 years ago until you posted here about a year back that home hardware still sold it. Took us a while but we did find it in their computers and I ordered a case which should take me to the next hunting grounds. :)

I use a slight lick of motor oil.. 5w30 to be exact. Works 1000x better than my previous gun lube with supposed Teflon in it.

After all, Motor is designed to be between two metal surfaces..

Don't get me wrong, there IS better lube out there.. I've just been lazy, and haven't undergone the search for it yet. And oil is cheap and found everywhere.

Breakfree CLP for me. Especially good on the mag tubes of my 1100s, and 11-87s. Keeps the carbon in suspension, an easy wipe-off.
Cleans, lubricates, protects. My 2c worth
