Landed today after several months of waiting. Henry All-weather 357mag side gate H012GMAW. Props to Prophet River! Great guys, great communication and service. Notified me as soon as this baby set foot in this country.

The gun is incredibly smooth to touch and feel. Wife bought some silk pillows recently, and I swear the wood on this (and the stainless finish - looks sandblasted) feels as smooth as those pillows. The action is like butter, cycles like my Goldenboy, the loop is nicely machined and refined (I am comparing this in my mind to my very crude/stiff/sharp edges-unfinished and not in the same league Marlin 336), the weight (7lbs) is just perfect, and so is the length. I really can see why Henry's can't stay on the shelves for too long. Just wow. I am mind blown. The craftsmanship is just incredible. I looked it over, every single inch, and not a single mark or imperfection. It feels good, it looks good, hell, it even smells good. I have tried to taste it.

Only gripe is the steep price $1500CAD +tax (in the States seems to be on sale at many places for around 800-900ish) - either way, happy I was able to score one. Been eying them for a very long time now. (Oh and even a cheapy plastic lock of any sorts would have been nice for that price, but came with none  )

Crappy pic with the phone and bad lighting, but you get the point:

Looks pretty nice, do they come with a rail for the receiver? I bet Skinner has a peep that would thread right on.

Let us know how it shoots!

Beauty. I could sell a couple of the neglected ones and put one of those in the empty space and be pretty ok with it. Wife would be ok with that move too. I bet she would fall in love with it and then I'd have to hit the piggy bank to buy another :)

No rail, but pre drilled. Skinner makes a nice set for this particular gun. I'm already on it!

Just put 10 cheap winchester 38's through it (man that stuff is dirty). And yeah, mind blown again.
Butter. Best word to explain it. Slightly more recoil than my 22 goldenboy. I used ear muffs but I have a feeling it wouldn't have been too bad with them off either. At 60 yards (sitting down, balancing it with hands) I got a decent grouping, was slightly low, to the right (need to sight it in properly another time, and use a bench rest or a bag).

I think out of all the other guns this one will be my go-to now. Good for anything from coon size all the way up to deer.
I'm definitely impressed with it.

The retards in the SK govt have come to the conclusion that 357 mag, 41 mag, 44-40, 45 Colt, and a few others are not adequate for deer, so are a no-go legally....

Interesting that they include the 45colt but not the 44mag.
Trim down some 454 casull brass and hunt away. Haha

I got a .357 Henry X, which is pretty good, but it's shown me that what I really want is a .357 with a 20" barrel. If only I could get one!

I'm really wondering what's up with Henry, they pump out commemorative .22s constantly, which must sell I guess, but there's a huge interest in centerfire leverguns right now. With marlin down for the count for the near future and Winchester making one rifle a year, they have almost zero competition! But they just don't seem to be building the rifles to take advantage of it? I really wish I knew what was going on with them.

Henry's are great. I have a 45-70 with the blued receiver and 18.4" barrel and it's one handy rifle. It's also not hard to look at either. After 3 or 4 shots, I am happy to put it down though.

What is it that makes you want the 20" barrel? I would think that .357 would work just fine out of the shorter barrels? 16" barreled levers also feel more "handy".

The Cowboy shooters like the longer mag tubes, but if your not in a hurry to reload the trapper style shorter rifles are nice and handy.

Look like buckhorn sights? Why do so many modern lever guns come with buckhorn sights from the factory?

Nice looking rifle!

My limited experience with remlins, henry, and rossi levers the last few years has lead me to conclude that henry is top dog now.
