Best moose rifle for 300 plus yards

i've never hunted with that caliber so can't really speak to it.
.308 , .303brit, 30-06, 7mm rem mag, 338 win mag are calibers I've used or friends have used on hunts I've been on but in 25 years of moose hunting, I don't think any of us have ever shot a moose further than 200 yards. Most were much closer than that even.
Someone here will have experience with the 300 wsm
Scroll down the forum menu and find the Hunting and Sporting Arms section and the Hunting section. A search of 300 wsm in those sections will probably yield some useful info and experiences.

The word " best " is very subjective you'll get 100 different rifle bullet combinations none of which will be bad, I have shot over 25 moose with everything from a 25-06 to a 375 RUM and not one of them was 300 yards or more, so depending on where and when you hunt moose a 300 yard rifle could be a moot point.

If a person is shooting a 180 grain projectile out of a 300 wsm rifle at 400 yards, it would have just over 2000 ft lbs of energy which is more than enough energy to take down a moose if placed in the vitals. A person would really have to know what the bullet trajectories are before taking the shot though. In this modern world, there are a few scopes out there that could accomplish this for the shooter but as previously mentioned, a lot of moose are shot a lot closer than further.

How often will you shoot that far on that large an animal? What's your budget ? As said, many cartridges can 'make that shot', if YOU are able. The price of admission is the cost of ammo to get to that proficiency. A 308 will work with good shot placement, and still be capable of shorter shots for much less cost. JMO

My Ruger M77 MKII All-Weather stainless CRF bolt action rifle in 300 Win Mag with the "paddle" black Zytel stock topped by Leupold VX2 3-9x40mm scope has shot moose out to 475 yds from tree stands on timber clear cuts ... I shoot 180 grain Nosler Accubond bullets in either handloads or quality factory ammo ... custom 2 pound very crisp Timney Trigger (factory Ruger triggers in the 90s were atrocious) ... can't argue with meat on the ground

Smallest I’ve used is a .338, also my longest at just under 300. Shot him in the shoulder, sounded like I smacked him with a 2x4. Dropped right there.

First there is no such thing as the best, what some love others hate.
In 50ish years and almost as many moose I can only think of 5 I've shot over 300yds. All but one was with 3006 165 Hornaday, one was from a time I was using 190s in a 300wm. But I've always zeroed my rifle for 300yds, in my 300wsm that gives me a 4ish inch point blank range of 350yds. Actual shooting and dry firing practice keep me sharp to any shot adjustment I need to make. Like the perfect head shot on a 120yd spike buck this year.
To answer your other thred question. Scopes are for shooting and clumsy at best for spotting. I do have one 3.5x10 but never ever found that I've needed anything more than 3x9x40. Anything with a no hassle lifetime warranty will do.

i only hunt moose with my .22 gauge!! This guy back east said that's what hunters use, hard to find caliber, but that's what i take those monsters with. 300 yrds...pfft...22 gauge is probably good to at least 600yrds before any kind of bullet drop.
