Best/Most effective AR compensator

Anybody play with clocking the comp? Interested in keeping the rifle flat - no consideration to the dudes beside me.

D,

The original AR comps (many years ago) that I tried came with intructions that said to clock the comp to optimize their effect. Those older comps were not really that effective and clocking them did not improve their effectiveness.

I recently tried 3 modern comps without clocking. All these comps worked a lot better than the older designs. All 3 brought the gun back to their original point of aim or thereabouts. You might be able to gain a little bit by clocking, it would depend upon the actual gun, ammo, and your body build.

PS. All 3 comps had a good effect on keeping the rifle flat and this generally also caused big noise and disturbance to anyone beside you. Their problem.

I do not have the exact values in front of me, but a crush washer has large "range" of adjustment that can be used to set the comp to vertical or clocked if needed.

The comp would be spun up against the crush washer until contact is made and then the comp is further tightened against the crush washer. The comp needs to be tightened from 90 to 450?? degrees into the crush washer. Some where in that range of tightening the comp would be set to vertical or clocked if required. In order for the tension to be correct, the crush washer can only be used once.

I'd be more convinced of the comps effectiveness if the users weren't of such extraordinary carriage ...
