I think this is one of the closest polls i've seen in my short time here. It's clear we can remove the HK45.

Seems to be lots of love for the Sig P220, Glock 21 Gen 4 and the M&P45

Just because it is $$$ pistol most people won't buy it...being "rare" doesn't help either. Larry Vickers torture test on it is impressive as hell, check it out.

I personally have owned or shot all the pistols on the list and the HK45 is the only one I have anymore. I see no other reason for me personally to own any other type of .45 pistol.

Part of me wants to buy the HK45.....I'm just finding it REALLY hard to drop 1399.00 plus tax for a pistol that i may or may not have any support for. What if i need a part. How long could my new baby be down while i wait...... a month, 6 months, a year?? Does anyone know?

I also hear the Canadian Distributer for HK in Canada is a real treat to deal with as well.

These guns can go 50,000 rounds with next to no cleaning before you need to worry about anything breaking and even then its only the cheap "small parts" that will need replacing...I do not think you have much to worry about!!!

If there was one available last week, i would've picked it up. I was unable to locate one, so i bought the USP 45 and the Sig P220.

Maybe a Christmas present.:p

I "have" a USP tactical .45 as well and do enjoy it but it is going to a buddy once his RPAL comes in...just like the HK45 too much to shoot anything else:p

It all comes down to personnal preferences. I've owned the .45 cal Hk's in nearly all flavors except the long 6" Elite version (USP, HK45, Tactical, MK23...)

They are all gone and I've kept the G21 gen 4, not that the Hk's are bad pistols, I just dont think they worth 2x the price of a Glock, spare mags are also 2x the price. Are Hk's good pistols? You betcha. Are they 2x the pistols Glocks are? I'll let you answer that question yourself...

FWIW, Glocks have a clean track record (Hk's too) they have simple manual of arms, are easy to strip and clean, less parts in them, anybody can turn into a gunsmith and play with the internals and also like the 50k rounds HK test stated above, the Glock will probably outlast his owner... No surprise there.

HK's look nice with exceptional fit/finish, Glocks look like a utilitarian hunk of plastic. I want something that looks nice and functions well. HK is my choice. The Stainless/polymer 2-Tone models are just gorgeous...

HK45 is the "Holy Grail" of .45's right now... can't even find them they are so popular.

In a self shucker I'm equally impressed withe 220 and the 21. Though my real favorite alternative 45 is a S&W Model of 1955. - dan

;) Good choice :). Here's another and one that I opted for a short while ago. 4 5/8" SS Ruger convertable, 45 ACP/45 LC.

That's interesting ^. I just don't find those Ruger's to have a comfortable grip. Too small for those of us with large hands.

Nice pic...

A little after the fact but I've added a second photo. I know what you mean about the grip and larger hands. Generally speaking, I hold my pinkie finger under the butt/grip. A bisley style grip may be a suitable alternative but to my eye, it just doesn't 'look' right. Kinda' looks like like a woman who needs but forgot to put on her bra. Here's a few more;)with the grip style of my preference.

Thought you were loving the USP? Not sure if anyone warned you, but the 9 or 40 USP is Large, the 45 USP is very large and the HK Mark 23 is Desert Eagle huge... I believe the HK45 has adjustable backstraps to fit small-large hands...

The Sig 220's single stack grip should fit you perfect.

We won't judge you if you buy a 1911. Great platform. I will buy one in the future, waiting to save up money for a really nice one.

The HK USP 45 is just too big for my small paws.....damn.

In the meantime, you should enjoy the CanAm deal: G21 gen 4 + 1000 rounds of Norc ammo for $949 while it last!;)

The USP is great. But just too big. I shoot it well, but it doesn't feel good in the hand. The Sig however......fits perfect.
I had the Ruger SR1911....meh, couldn't really bond with it. If i ever buy another, i might try a Kimber or Sig 1911.

I voted HK USP 45. I own one, I love it, accurate, low recoil, ultra dependable (only it and the SIG 220 have ever passed the FBI reliability test set) and it just looks damn cool.

nuff sd

Are you going to sell your USP 45 on the EE or stick with it?
