I've had a few Norinco 1911's & never had a lemon, yet. While I like the 1911A1 .45ACP version as it's traditional, they have also done a nice job with their "compact" [commander] version as well.
And I do really like the NP-29 [1911A1] single stack in 9mm. Here's the one I've just sold:

Ah frick! Do let me know if you have another one to sell, been half heartedly chasing after one of those for a while
got the 1911 sport (tuned by Armco), love the extended slide stop and front slide serrations, they are handy. the finish is pretty good (MUCH better than my NP-22)
dislike the extended mag release as it unscrews with each shot, and the ambi safety I can do without as well.
whichever you pick, buy some better quality mags for it, the stock ones can have problems.
PS anyone know how to disassemble the ambi safety? cant seem to find instructions/video for that
