Best NR 9mm Glock fed Pistol Calibre Carbine PCC

You are a real optimist with Trudeau wetting his pants and racing to ban AR's. I would wait until we see what he does with the idea of spending $600,000 to fund his buy back plan.

Only 3 reasons why so many FX-9's are hitting the used market that I can think of:

People need the money
Not reliable
Bored of quickly/not what they expect it to be

I find the NR pistol caliber sub guns pretty boring, but that’s just my opinion.

The really short restricted ones are a lot more fun, imo.

If i had read it correctly. some of the first FX-9 into Canada had a lot of FTF an would have to go into get warranty work done. Might be why so many used coming up.

Having had a few different options, JR, gen1 Sub2k, Tavor (not in 9mm admittedly), and currently Gen2 Sub2k and J68. For overall value a used Sub2k is hard to beat. Stoked about the NR Kriss vector 22lr with the 6.5” barrel I just pre-ordered though, not a 9mm but should be a lot of fun!

I would still buy the Ruger PCC but the AR style one.

I also would consider the Browning Buckmark Rifle if you consider that a PCC, I got the pistol with 7 mags

Was looking at Taccom 2020 floor plan, Ruger will be there

I feel the want to chip in here! I also was in the market for a 9mm PCC and did a ton of research online and went out and bought a TNW ASR. Worst PCC ever! I wanted to like it cuz I thought it was super cool that the barrel unscrewed and it packed away small. Tons and tons of stove pipes and FTE’s. To be fair, I didn’t try and troubleshoot it too much and only completely disassembled it and cleaned it and lubed it up well. No change. Certain Ammo fed well through it and others had light primer strikes and the aforementioned FTE’s and stove pipes.

I then went out and bought a freedom ordnance FX-9 used from another gentlemen. I did nothing to it besides put on some rail attachments, a RDS, some BUIS, new pistol grip and stock, and sling. I hit the range with it and fed 180 rounds of 3 different types of ammo. Blazer 124, Winchester 115, and aluminum 124. Not a single FTE, or misfeed or anything.

I loved this thing! The bolt locks open after the last round with both the p-mags and SGM I tried, and all the controls are the same as my AR15. It even breaks down the same, with one less step to disassemble the bolt, Cleaning is easy, it was light, and precise. (Couldn’t gauge accuracy because I forgot the tool to sight in my RDS’s).

Wish I didn’t sell it to Mike from Canmore, that thing was a beauty. Might have to buy another one.

Only other one I’d be interested in is the Ruger PCC, but I really like the controls of the FO FX-9 and ergomomics. With a daniel defence pistol grip and MFT minimalist stock it was slick

When I was at Select Shooting Supplies, I inquired about the new AR style Ruger, they told me they had the only 1 in Canada, was sent to them by Ruger but was shipped with a bolt or screw missing if I remember correctly, not sure what happened to the firearm.

Yeah, well, I LOVE my Aero, but that's largely because I'm a born tinkerer. Love experimenting and improving machines. The TNW Aero is rather simple to modify compared to all the hours that go into successfully building a very efficient PCP rifle. Just a bunch of smoothing and shaping stuff to get it cycling smoothly and quietly, to get the trigger and sear optimized, all around my desired bullet weight and velocity. I'm not a fan of using one gun for multiple trajectories, whether an airgun or a firearm, so it seems to make sense to dial a 9mm carbine in for function with a certain cartridge. In my case the Remington UMC 147gr subsonic. But of course that's not everyone's cup of tea. And there's no harm in adding them to the healthy resale market. Sooner or later my little brother will be wanting one too...

I agree 100% :)

Ive set up a short 9mm PDW AR pattern gun in 9mm. But a non restricted rifle in the same mag/ calibre combo would be very good too. The FX-9 seems to fit my bill. I saw one last year at Al Flahertys in Toronto, and I should have taken one when I had a chance. Now that my smaller project is done, Ill be looking for a FX-9 or a Ruger PCC with the modular set up. However the AR controls on the FX-9 are useful...

I am not sure how many camps there are in PCC land, For me I wanted one to do compete with. I also wanted one to serve as a truck gun. The Sub2k works for me there. A SKS would as well. Not sure what other reason there is other than...just because. The latter works. What other reasons are there?

Almost exactly my experience as well! Except i bought a JR carbine since at the time the FX9 wasnt an option for Canadians.

For me, the TNW ASR checked off almost all the things i was looking for in a PCC... however mine had roughly the same problems as yours. And 5+ yrs later and a modest amount of troubleshooting it is still unable to empty more then 4 mags without issue. Poor reliability is a deal breaker, so i gave up and bought a JRC. The ASR now collects dust in the safe.

They make excellent small game guns
Excellent plinkers
Excellent survival guns
And Excellent guns for new shooters

And the availability of mag / ammo options make them even more versatile. Seems more and more manufacturers are building Glock 9mm specific / compatible PCC's. System is great bonus as one-off mag systems are limiting (and can get very expensive). Always great to use what's already available!

Regardless of the political climate of the potential gun ban. The FX-9 seems to get the win for me. Thanks for al the input. Our options in Canada are pretty decent.

Earlier Gen JR's seem to have had problems but the the later ones are the cats @$$ in my opinion.
Just don't slap your mags in!
Plus their warranty / service is amazing! Even to Canada they will ship parts up and from my experience at no cost (add-ons like new handguards, birdcages or swag are a different matter though ;))

the FX9 is still too hit and miss out of the box IME. excellent ergos, and you might get lucky with a "good one", but even the new ones with the bolt mod done from the factory can have FTEs, double-feeds and stovepipes out of the box. Early rifles were helped by doing the bolt mod, but issues with the new Fx9s I blame on a buffer system that's too light. The brand new FX9 in played with recently ("bolt mod" done from factory, confirmed visually after taking the bolt apart) had 14 FTEs on its first 100rds using multiple Glock and Magpul mags. Half of those ended up as double feeds. Rifle had been fully cleaned beforehand, and was run super wet. Swapped to a rifle-length buffer spring and an adjustable Odin works AR15 "heavy" buffer literally in the middle of its maiden voyage, and it immediately improved the rifle. We started off ~0.5oz heavier than the stock buffer, and the FTE/double feeds stopped. the heaviest buffer configuration possible (5.8oz, IIRC, roughly 2oz heavier than the one it came with) was completely reliable, and smoothed the rifle out considerably. Had we had access to the even heavier Odin 9mm AR buffer kit, I think we could have gotten this rifle even smoother. I think the only remaining complaint is the terrible mil-spec trigger.

the most reliable 9mm PCC I've ever played with is a newer gen JRC. utterly flawless reliability over 2k+ rounds, and smooth to shoot. it's biggest negatives are meh ergos, no LRHO, and needing tools to separate the upper and lower to clean. the new ones seem to be quite reliable, but the early rifles were a jamming POS.
a good buddy swears by his CX4, but they don't take glock mags. the trigger on his CX4 was heavy AF, but the thing is super reliable.
the Ruger PC carbine looks super intriguing. I want a Thureon, but my wallet says no. it would be hard to pass up on a Ruger PCC or S2K based on the price and positive reviews.
Lots of good options, but some may or may not need some time/money spent on them to make reliable.

Unholysavage great post. The CX4 Storm is as reliable as tomorrow's sunrise. Mine has not had a failure inj over 9 years or so of shooting. For competition though the trigger is awful and that is being kind. For plinking, though it works. The fact it doesn't use Glock mags is not much of an issue. Beretta mags are plentiful and a fun stick can be had.
The Siera Papa trigger group is something I should install. I am going to wait until Turdo let's us know what he intends to do. Mine is restricted so Mike from Canmore is not an option with this gun.

Love my sub 2000, been running flawless with any mag and ammo I throw at it.

My TNW ASR has been nothing but problems but it’s good actually. I use it to train new shooters on how to clear jams with it. I get FTF it FTE on almost every mag I put in. Still love the looks of this firearm but damn it’s so unreliable.

These are the two Ive narrowed it down to:

Ruger PCC modular
I know that there is an MI chassis available, but out of the box this seems to be a win.

Non restricted. Modular MLOK, glock fed, comes apart for easier transport, forward optic rail is a plus
