Best of the Best .. rifle

Title has “best of the best”
The content adds “$4000.00 and under”.
These two statements are at odds with each other…
Also no need to include “factory”, one would have to have an open mind on the interpretation of a custom to consider a full build with tax and freight under 4K Canadian.
All that aside 4K was over the top not long ago for all but the most exotic offerings, today though, like everything it’s not enough.
I would have said #1 is a Sako 85, pick your flavour, the carbon with tax would come in just under your threshold.
But the 85 is discontinued…now the 90 Peak would be the closest replacement of that rifle and that’s $4400 plus tax, in BC that comes in at $4900 or 20% over budget.
To me everything else just felt like too much of a compromise so I was (and still might be) considering a full custom.
Everything you want if you’re willing to pony up, no compromises.
However I found a “ new” old rifle that ticks all my boxes so I’m trying that option first.

The Sako 90 Adventure probably offers the most value and would make the threshold on price as I think they start at $3600. Sure it's 3/4 lb heavier but has adjustable comb synthetic/fiber stock and cerakote like coating on top of the stainless. It gives up aesthetics to become possibly the ultimate sleeper, for those that appreciate sleepers and less flash then it's got to be the bang for the buck winner. I bought my 90 peak pretty spur of the moment, it checked more than all my boxes, didn't actually need a rig that light...I didn't really know about the adventure until I got home lol. I would have put them side x side before choosing if doing over. I'm a sleeper guy for sure. There's a lot of upside to the Adventure and is smarter money imo, there's a high chance on a do over I'd have the Adventure instead of the Peak.

What happened to olde Sproosty now? I see him got pinked again. <rolls eyes>

Lol, the colour of his username has indeed been flashing like a pink strobe light all along. :)

After almost two decades of CGN membership...I just discovered there's a thread in Off Topics that lists "perma-banned" members. And, lo and behold, he's now in there so may not be back after all.

A shame, really; I was looking forward to his "Boxers or briefs; which did you wear on your last big game hunt?" thread. It would have been epic! :)

I stay out of the off-topics as my values are not main stream and would rather avoid those interactions that would get me pinked as well.

Yeah, I get that. I think I've ventured in there maybe three times in my CGN tenure...and always leave just shaking my head.

Must...not....engage...

There's a special breed of whiny, obnoxious, argumentative CGN members that drift like freshly-falling flakes of snow into the crevices of many conversations in many parts of the forum...but in Off Topics they accumulate into gigantic drifts that block the sun...

I think there are a lot of closet liberals here on CGN. If not for the oppressive gun laws we have here in Canada, most of those would support the Liberals and the NDP.

Anything 350 Legend. Friggin round is awesome for hunting deer and bear.
ATA turquas - best value I've seen in decades
