Just so you know when you are shopping around next time... most good retailers will match/ or beat any advertised pricing of the same item.

One thing you omitted to mentioned is that the OP had concerned about buying it used, due to the aforementioned round count & barrel life. Two of the first three responses were answers to his question, which to clear it up, the used market IS one of those place...before the barr...

i have to ask what makes a swiss arms so bloody expensive in canada? i dont think its due to how rare it is. so do these rifles have gold plated bolts and platinum trigger groups or something?
Have you ever been to Switzerland? Everything costs more in Switzerland as everything from Swizerland is "special"!!!
They do make great sh1t but they believe everything there is much better than anywhere else. Even Coca Cola costs $5/350ml there
They are the same price here as in Switzerland and significantly cheaper than the older PE90s available in the US.
Why are Swiss products expensive is likely what you want to know. They are a small country with very high labour costs, and they have a well deserved reputation for quality and precision.

That's what I was trying to convey - the number in the manual (which includes FA fire) is going to be lower than the actual number of rounds the barrel will last in Canada (with SA fire and restricted mag capacities)

Ok, thank you for clarifying, I just misunderstood your original post.
How has this thread strayed off topic??? As BenL said, everything discussed has been in direct relation to the OP's question. He had concerns about barrel life on a used rifle and so the topic evolved a bit. Relax
If you can find a new one for this price then I would suggest to the OP that he seriously look into it. However, I challenge anyone to find a new
Swiss Rifle for some of the prices MUGEN suggests, to my knowledge the cheapest current retailer is still Wolverine, I have priced them recently. While I agree that $3200 is not a good deal, I do not think you will find a new Swiss Rifle for less than what Wolverine is currently selling them for, $3399.00+Tax and Shipping. Again, that is why the EE is the best place to get one.
Edit: P&D has a USED one apparently test fired 40 times, for $3150 + Tax

It is a quality product, built with high labour costs, in a place with a high valued currency.
I was lucky enough that I actually ordered one through Wolverine a few years back.
By the time it came in our dollar shot up something ridiculous that year, and Wolverine dropped my price from the advertised $3,000 down to $2,700 just to make up for it!!!
Won't see that happen often.
My respect for them went from high to customer for life.
I only wished they weren't across the country.

If you are not in a hurry, wait and shop around, wait for Xmas, but no one can guarantee. I bought mine around 2010 Xmas $2999, but that is the past. Lowest I have ever seen was $2799. As I said no one can guarantee but you can take it as a reference. Good luck.

I have been looking around for like a good month now and can not seem to find a Classic Green with the diopter sight. All of the ones I seem to find are all that flat top non sense. Also for who ever mentioned Calgary Shooting Club, that was the most expensive place I have found them at I believe it was 3799.99 which is a bit high. Also just as a side note I would handle one before buy if you haven't already might be common sense but meh I thought it was worth mentioning.
Definitely not a bag suggestion. For someone who expects it to handle and swing like a Carbine will be in for a surprise when they get it! Still a superb rifle.

Most places with new stock are $3500+. Elwood is just under $3800 as well.
x2...can't find a "classic green" either...black special, carbine, CQB and flat tops only right now.
I have shot them and i do love them...I love the fact that the can knock man sized targets at 600m
