Best polymer 45 ACP?

Having owned an HK45 when they first hit the shelves a few years ago, I will agree that they are great guns - if you can find one and don't mind paying $1500+ for a used polymer pistol and around $90 apiece for extra magazines... Or you can get an awesome S&W M&P45 for well under $800 and pay about $50 apiece for extra mags and be just as happy.

The M&P45 is an awesome gun and even more awesome when you consider that it is about half the price of the HK45. Plus the M&P will be MUCH easier to get spare parts for should you ever need them.

:agree:
For the price you pay upfront, and the cost of extras the M&P45 is a terrific deal. They also tend to be a bit more accurate than the 9+40 versions, but the grip size is very similar. The ergos of the M&P45 are way ahead of the majority of 45's.

Take all the opinions with a grain of salt.. including mine.

I'd recommend you try them / fit them in your hand if at all possible. Often what you want and what actually fits you are different: It can be as cool as you want but if it doesn't fit your hand or is not comfortable for you then won't hit sh*t with it.

Beretta Px4 45! :stirthepot2: Seriously, it's all in the eye of the beholder. Why not try a few in your hand and make up your own mind as to what is best for YOU.

Just got my new HK45 in the mail the other day, waiting to take it to the range. It feels pretty good in my hands, and I have tiny girl hands. Can't comment on how it shoots yet, hoping to get out to the range Saturday and Sunday to try and break it in.

As far as the mag release, I actually dig it. I was wary of it, thinking I wouldn't like it, but I find it just as easy to use my fingers to release the mag as using my thumb. Someone's who's had years of practice speed reloading for IPSC might need to retrain their muscle memory, but it works for me.

I prefer the HK/Walther style paddle mag release as well. Maybe it's for people with small hands like us but I like using my middle finger for the mag release and I don't have to break my grip like I have to with thumb releases

Because there are no more rungs on the ladder after that.

Don't be silly, there are several steps lower than that! You could keep going down and get the PX4. The last rung on the ladder is actually the XD.

But personally I would recommend climbing the other direction.

Honestly this is mainly meant as a joke, I have no experience with the FNx series.
