I've generally had to pay between $20-30, depending on what it is.

Yesterday I purchased my first wheel gun from Shooter's Choice in Alberta, a S&W 686 with the 4.2 inch barrel.

Shipping was only $15.00.

I've had both and like the Smith better and sold the GP100, I'm not a revolver guy tho so have the 686 listed for sale. /plug

I've had no luck finding any in stock from a retailer. I turned to the EE for once and a transfer is pending. As for the 686 vs GP100 choice, I simply liked the looks of the Ruger better. I may consider a Smith down the road when I need a .44 magnum as the model 29s are gorgeous revolvers.

Is it really worthwhile holding out for the 'best price' when the difference in cost is more than made up by a] fun, and b] the knowledge that you'll spend more than equal the money on ammo in a couple of range sessions?

I can see going after the best deal on ammo, but $100 difference on a gun that will give you years of enjoyment, and probably last a lifetime, hardly matters. IMHO...
