Best pump action

Honestly, is there really a crappy pump gun out there today? They all represent pretty well at their given price points... But that being said, I do think the Mossberg 590a1 is the best bang for the buck pump gun going. There really is nothing tougher and you will never (ever) shoot out that heavy barrel...

My supernova tactical works flawlessly at -20. Smooth. Solid. Dependable. but I like that I can drop my maverick and not cry...The ghost rings on the SN are worth the money. Just bring a friend to help you get through those boxes of 3.5" buckshot

How about a KBP RMB-93

Too bad choke tubes are nearly impossible to find...

I own a 870 super mag, and everyone swears by them, but I still think that my brother n laws Browning BPS is a better gun. Bottom ejection makes it good for leftys also, so I figure its probably the best one.

In your learned opinions what is the best pump action shotgun to be had.

Criteria: No BS or frills just a solid smooth feeding machine( that will shot steel and lead. No 3 1/2 inch chamber required) that won't break. Preferably a new one but if one of the older models fits the bill then so be it.

Also, if you know of one that will make me a better shot that would be a plus but I'm afraid no company makes one of those:D

Remington 870 Express Mag (or Super Mag if you decide you do want to be able to shoot 3 1/2 inchers after all) ... affordable, no frills, solid, smooth (make sure you clean it every now and then lol) ... will shoot steel and lead... made to take a beating.

Ithaca Model 37.They are not cheap for a new one but they are very well manufactured.Even a new Remington Model 870 Wingmaster another good shotgun is not a cheap shotgun to purchase new any more.
I lucked into an Ithaca M87 Deerslayer Police Special (Sanduskey, Ohio made) for 300 dollars three years ago on CGN. It has the 7 shot magazine, slab side receiver and fully parkerized throughout. Choate full length stock and with a pistol grip, iron sights, points for a sling via uncle mike's, and 3 inch capable. Can't really say I like the pistol grip, on the full length stock, as it seems a little slower to bring to the shoulder, but it really helps absorb recoil, especially with a high kicking slug load. One tough firearm IMHO.

I've been using my 590 for nearly 10 years, and its seen some tough use without complaint. I prefer the location of the controls on this gun compared to other makes, particularly the slide release which can be depressed without repositioning the shooting hand, and the tang safety which I find is better located than a cross bolt. Of course when you are looking for something that is the best, you have an end use in mind. As much as I like my 590, its no goose gun.

Browning BPS Without a doubt!

My old man has one...and I've an 870 Express Magnum....and I feel like I deserve a :kickInTheNuts: for not getting the BPS.

Ithaca 37 may not be the smoothest but rules the roost when it comes to the sound. LAPD Officers were not impressed with the loss of that psychological weapon when switching over.

I'm guessing nobody has shot an NS2000 shotgun. The forward-back is much more natural and much faster.

That and 12+1 capacity and selectable mag tubes akes it hands down the best pump action.
