Best pump shotgun???

I think this topic has gone way south.
No one has really answered his questions.

He wants
[bla bla bla]
People are arguing reliability to death. What about which shotgun has the best looking barrel?
Which barrel is the smooth and shiney and dosen't need oil?

Ok, then if that's all he wants, then get one of these guns:

- Mossberg 835
- 870 Wingmaster 3.5"
- Stoeger P350

rem 870s are reliable, but they jacked up their prices again - and plan to do so in the future - (they sent us a letter from head office) - because they are doing this, they are only shrinking the gap between them and a benelli nova- what you are getting from remington vs. the nova or supernova:

Remington 870. express:

approx. $479.99

- comes with mod choke.
- no swivel studs or hardware

Nova:

- approx. $519.99
- Full, Mod and Imp. Cyl. chokes included
- sling hardware included
- criobarrel - makes for more effective, dense patterns
- truglo aftermarket fiberoptic bead
- modular stock w/ stainless steel skeleton with internal cylinder for added recoil suppression (you could buy a 14 oz. mercury tube which goes in this cylinder and it will act as a means of recoil suppression)
- magazine bypass switch

Supernova: $734.99 and up
same as above but with comfortech system for up to 69% muzzle jump reduction and 49% recoil suppression.

870's are wicked bad because you can trick the hell out of them, but with nova's, you dont have to. you pick.

Thanks for all your precious advices.

The wingmaster is one of the good choice for me.

Maybe in the 2008 remington line-up the supermag (3.5 inch) version will be available for the wingmaster so I think I'm gonna wait a few months and see.

Obviously most of the time 2.75 and 3 inch will be in use but really I want the possibility to use any shells.

I still consider supernovas from benelli too.

Saddly Berretta does'nt make any pump shotgun but it would have been a very good alternative to.

wingmasters are real expensive for what they are - im a remington guy and im saying this. i wanted one too, and for what you are getting, its more worth it to go to benelli - i hate to push it to one company, but remington keeps raising their cost, despite the power of the cdn dollar. its bulls**t

The Win 1300 might unlock with the shot, and the Mod 12 might be great, but if you have a friend that has a Mod37 just try it once.

The other guns just went behind a cloud to cry(sorry I'm watching a hank Williams movie).

The Mod 37 is slick a glass! GLASS I SAY.

Try one on for size, you will know the answer.

Bob:)

I've got a 1300, a Wingmaster and a Nova. I prefer the Nova!

They all have pros and cons. Shoulder each one and make your own decision.

how could you deny the 870p :p

LOL.

Beretta = Stoeger = Benelli = Uberti = all the same company. In Canada, "Stoeger Canada" is the parent corp, worldwide, however, Beretta is the parent corporation for this group of brands.

There is a reason the 870 is the most purchased shotgun on the face of the planet..

yeah, its that its been around for over half a century.
a large part of the reputation of the 870 is based on the fond memories of the older generation who had their high quality, indestructible, smooth-action wingmasters with great fit & finish last them several decades. the new 870 express models are not the same gun at all.
another part of it (which spills over into canada via the net) is perpetuated by rednecked american pride that has a knee-jerk disdain for anything not made in america, regardless of the quality or value (see Tikka T3).

that said, the Nova is a strong contender but id hardly recommend it as someones first shotgun. itll cycle anything reliably and is a very weatherproof and durable gun but shotguns are all about versatility - and thats the Nova's biggest drawback. if you buy a Nova you need to know exactly what you want because there arent thousands of aftermarket accessories for it, there are no cheap interchangeable barrels, stocks, etc.

for someones first gun id recommend either a mossberg 500 or rem 870. if they get the wrong configuration usually for $100 or a quick trade can set it right.
i like Mossbergs a lot. the aluminum receiver that 870 fans see as a disadvantage has never warped, bent, rusted or failed me in any way. in fact it is lighter than the 870, and completely rust resistant. either of these two guns are proven designs, reliable, and have parts and accessories available in just about every gun store on earth.

ROFL...
if you add up the cost of all those brennekes, theyre probably worth more than the shotgun :)
has anyone found an affordable source for brennekes in canada?

Yes true, but they sure are the best wilderness life insurance in North America IMHO!:cool:
You probably got Boomer and Pounder drooling too!

Rumour according to USA gun rags, is that there is quite a bit of this ammo in Iraq too.
