Best rifle for cats?

At my other home there was a farm that had a large population of feral barn cats that used to migrate my way during territorial squabbles. The 22 mag and the Rem 5mm mag always did a fine job of putting them to sleep.
Sorry to have to break the news to all you cat/tree hugger types but house cats being feral or cuddly couch pets are extremely hard on the bird population, up to and including grouse and cotton tail rabbits. They kill for the sake of killing, despite being fed the best expensive cat foods. It is their natural instinct to hunt and kill and their very good at it. Except for my first wife's prize Persians I shot every cat that I seen on the property.
At this house I have a resident family of Lynx which I leave alone as I like to see them. My current wife has a several Rottweiler's which I have been hoping the Lynx would develop a taste for but no such luck with that yet.

I would capture these Aussies and skin them.

I would have gone with a .223, but it seems .300 Win Mag finds some favour too, and you definitely don't want to be under gunned. Do you guys think a premium bullet like a partition or TSX would be best? Or just stick to the Woodleighs like the locals do?

Everybody loves cat videos

22lr + should be fine.

Or put em in a box an take em to a kids sports tournament, they'll all have homes then. Sometimes though it is required to cull populations and that's reality.

Them cats will keep the mice and voles down, why shoot em?
Fer dumb birds, fak thoses Dang birds hahaha
#Kitties for terrestrial takeover !
#F*Birds

Magpies are pricks

Kill a giraffe and it's for the best of all giraffes.

Kill a cat and it's for the best of all birds.

Touch somebody's dog and you will die.

CGN. LOL.

And here I initially thought this was a legitimate thread about mountain lion hunting firearm choices....

Personally only ever "put down" one cat that was rabid... but on a large property I hunt for deer, the owner has a standing order that all feral cats & dogs be put down with authority.

Feral cats are indeed a big problem. Some richer municipalities engage in "trap, neuter, release" programs that cost a fortune and you never see the end of it ($100-250 per cat, depending if it's a male or female).

That's a lot if boxes of. 22LR one could buy for every cat "fixed", lol... unfortunately a lot of places can't get away with exterminating this vermin because of "cat lovers" and the bad press it would create on social media, etc. First world problems, lol...

We hunters have made our points here I strongly recommend this thread be removed. We have enough bad press we don't need a cat rescue group to start lobbying against us. Let's act smart.

The time i feel bad about shooting a feral cat is when im out with my bow. It sucks when you bend an arrow shaft or ruin a broadhead. Still worth it though

However that guy was loading 180gr woodliegh and sas they open up good and no fear of over penetration. Guess im going to have to pick another bullet or a bigger gun cuz if they cant get through a 5lb cat theres no way theyll be good for moose
