Best rifle for rimfire silouette

If you could locate a Remington 541 S or T Sporter, they make very good rimfire silhouette rifles.

Trouble is, most who have them are keeping them.

Regards, Dave.

Anschutz 1712 if you are really serious. Cz 452 for the common folks. I'm a common folk.

Exactly. The CZ varmint model specifically. The 452 has a tapered barrel and will make weight if you are careful with scope and rings. The 455 Varmint is a non-tapered barrel which isn't legal for Hunter class.

The 541s are good too.

CZ 452 Silhouette. It has a light, stiff synthetic stock which gives you room for scope/mounts in the weight departement.
One the best shooting cz I have too!

I own a Savage Mark II FSS, paid cheap, light and there's nothing I cannot hit under 100m with it. The wife likes shooting solely because of that little rifle.

If you are serious Anschutz 1712 or Cooper LTR . I had an Anschutz 1712 , it was scary accurate
and set up well for shooting standing position . Making the weight restriction is the problem .

CZ American for hunter class, scope and ring decisions are slightly limited when trying to make weight unless your good with a drill, I had to drill holes in the stock in the barrel channel and under the recoil pad to upgrade a fellow shooters optics set up and still maintain weight.

Cool. I had the exact same question as OP. Well, don't really need the BEST rifle, but a competent rifle to get started with silhouette. My short barreled 10/22 was getting me no end of odd looks at the shoots. :p

It's easy to see who actually competes in silhouette.

You won't see a Savage, ever, unless it's some kid.

For reasonable prices the CZs are it. As a general rule most women like the Americans, most guys prefer the balance forward Varmint which will make weight for Hunter class (8 pounds, 8 oz) with a Leupold 6.5-20.

As Eagleye said 541s are great, although the S models are butt heavy. Hard to find too.

You mentioned the Weatherby XXII, a very nice rifle but not moderately priced.

If you stick with it chances are you will end up with an Anschutz. Virtually all of the top shooters do. Phenomenal triggers.

+1 I got mine from a BC er and I'm not a girl :)

:). A ruggedly handsome guy I understand!! LOL

Don't get me wring, as a sporter the Americans (yours!!) are fantastic. But for silhouette they leave some weight on the table with the 8 1/2 pound Hunter class limit which is a disadvantage for this specific discipline.
