Best rimfire pistol out there

Probably the best are:
Walther SSP, which I have and is a dream to shoot, but expensive to buy,
Walther GSP expert, which I would love to have, also very pricey,
Pardini SP rapid fire, again I have, shoots the lights out, pricey.

All three make a S&W 41 look like a piece of junk

Outdated, possibly, but hardly junk. While those you listed are good competition guns they are too focused for all around use. The S&W 41/46, Hammerli 208/212/215, and High Standard Supermatic's are better rounded guns due to their more conventional ergonomics and neutral balance. As the S&W 41 is the only one still in production it has the advantage of factory support, spare parts, and an established aftermarket.

Last S&W to win an Olympic event was the single shot hinged S&W Third Model Perfected in the 1923 50m Free Pistol event.

I really like the Smith and Wesson M&P .22

For the money the Ruger or any of the Browning iterations of the Challenger/Buckmark series. 15 years ago I bought a CZ .22 Kit for my CZ 85 Combat and, while expensive, compared to a dedicated .22 pistol is as accurate as I can shoot and dead nuts reliable due to it's design with any ammo you want to run through it.

Most folks just want a plinker and the above covers it. For dedicated serious target work there are better more expensive options.

Take Care

HI. No offence, I didnt say a S&W 41 WAS junk, i said these 3 make it look like junk.....

Anyway, if was looking to balance price, use, etc I would get a Ruger MkIII target for about $700-800. For one the mag holds 10 whereas the 3 I listed only hold 5
If I was looking for cheap I would get a cheap anything 22

I was just stating what I thought was "the best" shooting 22 for target shooting
