Best rimfire pistol out there

I've owned a few, and the Ruger MkIII was my favorite. Sold it as takedown was a pain in the ass, though. I really want one of the new MkIV models - all the advantages of the MkIII with push-button takedown. Sign me up.

As I read these posts and people saying that one is better than the other, which is better than the other, is there any real truth to it?
Now before I get flamed the reason I ask is because if you ask that very same question about what pick up is better you get a different
opinion depending on that persons favorite make (ford, GM, Dodge, etc..) and that's what I wonder here. How many people have owned 3 or 4 of these guns
and are replying with true honesty or just what they like themselves?

I chose a revolver because I didn’t want to bend to pick up ejected cases. I do like autos like 1911’s I just don’t own one. I suppose some sort of brass catcher net device could have solved the bend and pick problem but it’s too late now I’ve made my choice.

Who picks up .22 brass

My vote is Ruger mkIII. Accurate, and problem free. Just a bit of a bugger to learn to take down and re assemble.

I also vote the OP gets koodos for not putting up with the dumb ass comments. The posters quickly turned to, the only joking approach once they got called out on it. Shows they have little respect for others. This forum can be great, just the keyboard warriors can be relentless. I think they just want to get their post count up. It's forum wide unfortunately.

One of the obvious choices would be the S&W 41 but for 1700$ I will assume it is more than you want to spend but assuming you are looking to spend around 600$ I will give my .02 cents.

I have experience with the S&W M&P 22, Buckmark UFX Camper, Ruger Mark IX, Beretta Neos, S&W SW22 Victory, Sig Mosquito, GSG 1911 and the Grand Power K22 X Trim.

Of that list, I would rule out everything except the Buckmark, Mark 4 and the SW22. I hated the trigger and the grips on my Mark 4 and sold it but otherwise a very solid shooter. I love my el cheapo Buckmark and after 10000 or more rounds it never ceases to amaze me. The fit and finish is fantastic, the sights are ok, the trigger is butter and it will eat any ammo. The SW22 is every as bit as good as the Buckmark with the exception of the trigger and the grip as the buckmark fits my hands better.

If accuracy and smoothness is what you are looking for, stick with the traditional heavy barrel dedicated target style pistols. I would choose the buckmark over all others for out of the box awesomeness however the SW22 is a very close second...if not a tie for first. I would only sell my buckmark if a good deal on an upgraded newer model fell in my lap.

Well got my kids into shooting, and always liked the .45 Colt grip angle. I have had many pistols and decided on the Ruger 22/45. I ordered some Hoque grips, replaced the front sight, did the bolt and mag release mod.

Accurate, eats everything, light, and was reasonably priced.

Love the other ones mentioned, but to me it came down to accessories, and support, that is where Ruger wins everytime.

Not pretty, but does a job, and anyone can shoot it comfortably being so light. Disassembly is a pain without practise, but you will rarely need to strip it down completely.

A nice used S&W 41 will cost around $1,000, give or take. I'll never get rid of mine. I've tried a few less expensive .22s at the range (Ruger, Buck Mark, etc) but they are not as accurate at the 41. The 41 is heavier, better grip, very light trigger. When you adjust the sights even slightly you see the difference in the POI immediately. Easy to take down, and parts available if anything ever breaks. Takes a good variety of ammo tho not everything.

41's are nice. Classy. And not near the gun the 46 is (poke poke)

Gsg or colt 1911 rimfire would be my choice. If you have the 1911 pattern its easy to find a holster if you want to use it at the range with the guys. My kids use the rimfire. No regrets here, even though there are probably better rimfire pistols out there a common profile has all the benifits.

I've had a bunch of rimfire pistols over the years, Colt Huntsman,Smith and Wesson 622,CZ Kadet,Browning Medalist and Buckmark,Ruger MK1,2 and 3 and single six and sp,GSG 1911,Pardini SPnew along with a few others I'm probably forgetting. I've shot a bunch of others like High Standards,Walther GSP's,model 41's and 46's,Neos,Sig's.
My recommendation for a great compromise of cost, parts availability and reliability is the Ruger MK series or the Buckmark. Both are more accurate than most shooters, are dead reliable and have large aftermarket support to customize or replace parts as you wish.
There are a lot of crappy .22's out there but if you go with the MK or the Buckmark you can be pretty certain you're going to spend more time shooting vs screwing around with a fussy pistol.
