I am rethinking my rifle needs for the upcoming season so I am looking for your opinions/experiences. As the title says I want something with the ability to take down a moose but comfortable to shoot. If the the addition of a recoil pad such as a Decelerator for example also helps, so much the better.

to many factors , so pick a few, weight, stock design, pad, caliber, load data, incl powder, bullet weight, brakes, .....
30-30 lever , with partition/barnes bullets will be quite light to carry and shoot. 100 meter moose gun.

I've been shooting a 7x57 lately with some heavier bullets. Quite easy to shoot and with good/heavier bullets would be the ticket for moose.

A 7mm/08 would give the same results.

.

270 winchester good for moose, deer, bear, elk as long as you can shoot it and have the right bullet and placement. but thats just my opinion

Same as half the others.....260, 6.5 Swede, 7mm-08, .308 Win at the top of the scale.
If the round doesn't have to be common as dirt, consider the Savage bolt in .300 Savage. .300 Savages killed a whole whack of moose before the bolt rifle became king.

6.5x55, the Finns cull many moose every year with them, and, honestly, mooses aren't that hard to kill... but I do tend toward the .45-70 with 420 gr. hardcast handloads or a 9.3x64 with just about anything up the pipe.
