Best scope for a 700 5r in 308, around $1000?

Just bought myself my first long range rifle and now I need a scope, so what would u veterans recommend for in the $1000 price range? My range goes out to 500 yards but there is a 1000 one I might get out too once my skill set allows it.

how about something that - most of all - has enough MOA elevation adjustment for that range?
 
while you're at it, check out the Nightforce Direct Mount (or a copy of one) for your 700R
 
The nightforce mounting system is nice but will all 30mm tubes with a 50mm lense fit for this? Also sightron or 6-24 pst ffp? Is kinda where I'm at right now, I was told the ffp will make it easier for a newbie like me.
 
you re putting to much details as your first rig for shooting long distance. you ll need a lot of practise and shootings then when you ll taylor your skills you ll know more what you need.

you cannot buy the top notch stuffs and go at the range like that but you ll see what im talking about with the time.

at the range here you ll be surprise by the guys using a stevens 200 or marlin XS with a fixed 10x in old bushnell 3200 series and at 500 yards it s surprising.

all the best on your buying and spending money. you have the budget but take your time this is my advice.
