Back in 2021 I watched a friend shoot two big prairie cow elk with the 212 ELDX, one at about 350 yards and the other at 711 yards. The 350 was an impressive 5 steps and fall over and the other at 711 was an instant bang flop, I was so impressed I ended up buying one.
I purchased a Christensen Arms Mesa LR and have not been disappointed at all, I started shooting 212 ELDX and the wife was able to shoot a bull elk at 250 yards with it where he didn't get up out of his bed. The 212 ELDX was shot over N570 powder at a very fast 3050fps, easily shot MOA and I was happy until I lost accuracy and realized the throat erosion was immense due to the N570, I did read about that early and dismissed it, lesson learned I guess.
At one point I did try a box of 190 CX and found them also extremely accurate, I wouldn't hesitate to use them either but the cost is not pleasant.
With the remaining barrel life of this CA I found the 250 Atips to be extremely accurate, basic load work up showed all groups to be very accurate, 1" groups at 300 yards (off a bench) are the norm with them. I settled on the 250 Atip over 75 grains of N170 going a modest 2650fps.
I did shoot a mule buck at 460 yards with the 250atip and was not disappointed, bang flop, there was an impressive but not excessive wound channel.
Currently working on load development with a box of 225 ELDM with 74 grains of H1000 going roughly 2780fps, I shot a slightly larger than 2" group at 300 yards so now its time to see how it does at extended ranges. Fingers crossed the 225s work out, from what I've read and watched online I wouldn't hesitate to shoot a big game animal with the 225s.
Cliff notes, 212ELDXs are good, 225 ELDMs show promise with a good online reputation but the best are 250 Atips.
