Best Shotgun for three gun

Why is that second shotgun almost double the price of the one I posted from Al Flaherty's?
They look like the same gun.

I think $1500 is a bit ridiculous already. $2900 is a complete joke.

And let's face it; Your average recreational shooter will score exactly the same with a $500 Hatsan.

As always, the good work that makes it work better is not seen externally.

Trigger work
Over-sized bolt release
Extended tactical-style bolt handle
Ghost load and OOB mods done
Modified carrier and enlarged loading port for speed loading
HIVIZ Competition Sight
Lowered, flared loading port
Moddes loading gate
It's supposed to have the extended mag tube as well.

The internal work was farmed out to a well known shotgun smith, Benny Hill at Triangle sports

Considering most decent shops charge an additional $1500 to $1600 for the internal work, $2900 seems to be on par.

This is as close as you can get to a full out race gun used by the pro's (believe me, I've tried) Accurate Iron is the goto place for M2 mods, they wouldn't even hear me out. Next time I will go right to Taran Butler, atleast he was friendly.

The average shooter *may* score the same with a $500 hatsan, but I doubt it and everyone knows, loading the gun is what wins or loses :)
 
I spend my winters in Corpus Christi. My Versa Max upgrades were done in Benny Hill's shop. Many of my friends there shoot Triangle Sports' race prepared VM's and Benelli's. The cost of Benny's "package" is no where near $1500.00. The direct price to the shooter is closer to $1000.00 for everything. My cost was less than half that as I started with a VM Tactical. Most people in Corpus start with a VM 26 inch sporter as it can take a longer extension tube. Benny's typical capacity is 10 + 1.
 
I looked into getting one from Benny Hill and after conversion, shipping, tax and import fees it would have been well over $3000. I can tell you the the Benelli m2 three gun is amazing and well worth it. It is one sweet shooting shotgun.

Benelli ships in large lots for Benny's work and return. Probably more than half of the shooters I know use a Benny Benelli so there's no arguing with it being a fine gun. However the work Benny does is not magic and it's becoming easier to find very good shops here. Check your cost on a Benelli M2 here and then check pricing on the work. The changes made have become pretty standard. For what it's worth, the work Benny does on VM's is the same as he does with the Benellis and the cost is $100 more for the Benelli if you buy it complete from him. His cost for customer owned guns is $895.
 
Thanks for the reply. I was going to get him to build me one but then I found the prophit river one. I ended up with that one and I am very happy. I was okay with paying a bit more to get it in time for this season.

All very valid points, but I've always wanted a Benelli and for me it was time to scratch that damn itch!.

The M2 3 Gun edition atleast comes with the factory warranty, not like you'd need it.

Nice gun, Andy. Did it come with the TT bolt?

No it did not, it comes with a modded factory bolt (looks like Benny put the OOB and Ghost load mods on it) I found this during the time I was laid up due to knee problems. I had already purchased the M2 3 Gun by the time I discovered Taran had separated from Salient Firearms and was doing work himself. Too bad, because he was selling complete gun for about the same (and some proprietary work he does) on a new M2.

I sourced through Taran Tactical the lightened bolt, internal spring kit, safety, extended bolt release, and bolt handle (I did go back to the Nordic bolt handle though)

But I really wanted the bolt, because it is all kinds of smecsy.

I really want to get out and start shooting again, but I am still plagued with some health issues that are just keeping me from making a return this season. Plus I miss hanging out with you guys :)
 
And 21in barrel M2s are impossible to find in Canada. When I was looking I found one but it was $1900. Way too much for a stock m2.

Yep, even in the US, 21" are impossible to find as it is the preferred length for most 3 gunners.

I've been running a Mossberg 930 for most of my active time in 3 gun with an 18.5" barrel, it was light, easy to use and super mild recoil due to the piston design and I still love it.

I've read comparisons that the M2's kick abit more, but because they are recoil based, they have less chance of gumming up like many piston shotguns do. Up here, we'll never see anything like the stages they have (50+ rounds of 12 guage) so fouling might be less of a concern to us.
 
I know this is OT, but the Benelli knowledge is here, so I have to ask: Does anyone know where to get a
M2 with open rifle sights? Thanks.
