My vote is the AA12:

High capacity, select fire, but too heavy.

I'd say Rem 870 tactical, it weighs 2kg less, which means you can carry more ammo, or run faster, or both. These are both essential in surviving the impending zombie onslaught. :)

Keep it topped up and avoid urban areas.

A Remington 870 with a 12.5" Dlask barrel. It's very light, quite reliable, and very easy to get on target. Not to mention how devastating the 12ga can be. When that day comes, and the dead walk again, trying to eat my brains- I'll be sending them straight back to the grave!

I'm not sure if I would go for the 12.5" barrel. That would significantly reduce the number of shells you could hold. If it's a primary weapon, I'd want the 8+1 capacity of an extended tube, those few extra shells could mean the difference between life and joining the ranks of the walking dead...

However, if it's a backup to your tactical carbine, then I would go with the shorter shotgun (less bulky and lighter). It all depends on the requirements of the shotgun, and what you will need it for.

Also, there will be less felt recoil with the longer barrel, which could be vital if quick followup shots (on the same target or multiple targets) are necessary.

Shotguns are great and all but would you really want to be shooting it constantly in a continuing zombie onslaught?

We've all shot shotguns and they can be very fatiguing. You wouldn't want to be shooting it continuously. Ammo is big and heavy. This firearm should only be used in a close range situation and a small caliber semi-auto rifle used for your main defense. Greater accuracy, you can carry much more ammunition for the same weight. .223/5.56 is my choice, ammo is readily available and you could easily resupply from our forces.

That being said. I still have my 870 with 14" dlask barrel for close encounters. :)
