Best single shot?

There is a fella that has a cooey 840's for 90 bucks on the EE,,, and I see OP looking.... hope they hook up.... thinking of buying one myself..... just to have... :)

I think the post of buddy's shortened survival Winchester has peaked some intrest in these guns :) not what I personally have planned but nonetheless some single shots will be going to new homes.

They are shortened?... dang... I was interested until then myself.... you cou ld always buy that rough baikal for 150 plus shipping... it's only about 40 bucks more than you would pay for a brand new one....lol...

seriously... they are shortened?

I bought my 812 for about a hundred bucks. I was going to give it to my brother in law as a first gun but he did his CORE and didn't finish the PAL right away. Life does get busy. I made a cute little pistol out of it.. 27" long of course. For my hundred bucks, I love it.

I would buy another in .410, 28 or 20 gauge for sure.

In my opinion the best single shot, shotgun is the Model 37 Winchester. The Model 37 is a robust pre-64 Winchester built to last several life times. It's beauty is in it's simplicity of design and quality machining with Winchester Proof Steel and stocked with quality grained walnut. . Don't confuse the Model 37 with a Model 37A or Model 370. . The latter two are post 64 chunk.

The Winchester Model 37 has quite a following with the "Pig-Tail" lever M37 made in the first few mos. (1936). . The "Red Letter" M37 (pre-war) . . . . The Model 37 is just a great little shotgun . .:)

I have two of the most beautiful and simple single shot designs ever made - IMO, of course.

1. Browning/Miroku High Wall Model of 1885 in 22-250 with a full octagon barrel and an old Bausch & Lombe x10 scope, and a

2. Uberti ditto in 38-55 BP.

Plain and simple, and thanks to Winchester's redesign in 1885, only fifteen parts in the entire mechanism.

I have 2 singleshots, 1 in 12g & 1 in 16g. Both are CIL model 402's. Both have cracked plastic spacers on the forearms. But I still use them like this with no problems. Does anyone know where to get replacement spacers as I would really appreciate knowing where.

Ditto on the Winchester Model 37 endorsement.
Does anybody have personal experience with the H&R Tamer in 20 gauge?
Looks like a decent little shotgun.

That among a few other reasons is why Winchester went teets up in the Mid 60's. They just put too much effort and quality into their firearms.
