I'm looking to mount a Bushnell TRS-25 on my sks but I have no rail system. I am not planning on purchasing a new stock (tapco, striikeforce etc.) I just want a simple rail that doesn't stop me from top loading with stripper clips.

I was leaning towards the dust cover with picatinny rail, but i heard it doesn't keep zero very well.

Any suggestions?

Seems during my research that the Magwedge rails are the most popular and retain zero nicely. I have 2 and they work great. Magwedge is a sight sponsor and they are great to deal with. These rails also allow you to return the rifle to original with no permanent modifications. The new gen 3 model allows the use of stripper clips still.

Thank you. That looks pretty solid.

$160 though after the entire rifle ran me $200 :(

Seems steep. I own a CNC.. might need to design my own lol.

Sounds like a plan if you have the gear! Many people look at the sks as a waste of upgrade money because of its price. Maybe to some it is. EITHER way it is a very fun, cheap gun to modify and shoot. IT would be jnteresting to see what people wanted to get out of it if it cost $700 to start?

If you don't want to use stripper clips the gen 2 rail is less expensive and works just as good.

I just noticed GP Tactical has both on sale. Also great guys to deal with!

oh man i did a lot research for scope rail
IMO, there are 3 kind rail that truly hold zero.

1st is Magwedge which I buy, Hold zero, put a simmons 4x32mm scope on it then i got 2-4 moa, but the screw of pin went loose after a while (now i am looking for some loctile). Removing the rear sight was pain in ass, because there was a pin through the hole. i spend 2 days to soak it then punch the pin whole day! still not moving. in the end i use a driller to file it off.

2nd is NCstar dust cover mount. the trick is the side screws. use driller make a couple holes or shallow pits on the side of receiver. pretty cheap option and may not be able to hold zero due to poor quality of screws.

3rd is Addley Precision, there are few videos about it on youtube, check it out. should be able to hold zero

I got Col Mustard's Razor for mine, the rail proper seems EXCELLENT.

Be forewarned, the Bushnell TRS-25 is maybe not the best optic if you go this route. If it's mounted too far forward, then the gas block lever will not have enough clearance to rotate upward. If too far back, the length of the rounds will not allow the use of stripper clips. Even if mounted to allow for both, the rounds are maybe as little as 1 centimeter away from scratching the optic.

I sent back my TRS-25's, and am opting to replace them with something else.

I went with cheap receiver cover, file front taps so it's tight, then tap through hole where receiver cover latch was. Returns to zero and locks up tight, use allen head bolt. Have done this twice, looking to do it third time!
