Hey go ahead and buy extra mags. I'm just saying I hope everyone takes into account the price of the mags. I bet most don't.
To each his own, personally I can't justify spending over $800 on a rimfire. However I do know alot of people who have sunk in over $1000 on there rugers.

Your posts always make me laugh. You are too hung up on the cost of things. Sure we dont all have huge disposable incomes but we can all save for what we want and get it eventually. If always going to the least expensive option is your thing, all the power to you but please dont act like I'm a f**king idiot for spending my hard earned money on something Im happy with. I would gladly spend another $1200 on a rimfire just so I'm content knowing its not a cheap flimsy piece of lightweight plastic. But Im more about paying for quality and enjoying what comes with it. People take into account what things cost, we spend our money and go bang bang with our toys. Its not like its a conspiracy, no one tricked us into spending our money. I dont recall seeing you badgering CGNs in the black rifles forum about their expensive toys in there. I think you would have been banned by now for pulling that s**t...

Do you really think a colt M4 22 shoots more accurately than a ruger? You claim you get what you pay for.
Economics dictates the price, not the quality! You can pay alot for a crappy gun. I just don't want to.

I bought the Mossy for my son (at least that's what I told the wife ;)) but I have to say, for cheap fun this thing is hard to beat. Sure it's plastic - but who cares, I'm not going to war with it. For plinking with minimal cost it does a great job, and 25 round mags are a blast :ar15:

Please point out where I mentioned the Colt and any accuracy comparison.

One of the stupidest things Ive ever heard and proof that you do not own anything of quality. Period.

10/22 FTW! It pretty much set the standard for semi auto .22's. I have mine in a archangel .556 stock. It looks and feels great. I was leaning toward the nomad, but what turned me away is how it looks with the butler creek mags, it's looks wack! It looks really cool with the mag it comes with, but I understand it has plastic feeding lips and can warp over time. Plus the .556 stock improves the reliability with the butler creek mags because its a tight fit.

I found a place in canada that has some in stock but I'm not telling anyone where...

I wouldn't want anyone from buy it out from under me.

So much money to put into a 10/22, decisions, decisions...

I bought a 597 VTR on sale from wholesale sports, works great. Assuming of course, that I use the good magazine. Remington 597 30 round mags suck, to say the least. I've bought 5 so far, and one of them functions properly. However, if I use the metal 10 round mag that came with the rifle, I can shoot all day with nary a hiccup.

It's the exact opposite for me. My 10 round factory mags causes jams. My two factory 30 round mags work great. There must be two versions of the Remington 30 round mag because one is glossy black and one is a flat black. The flat black one works a lot better than the glossy black mag.

I had a 10-22 in an arch angle stock and I hated the way it felt. If I went Ruger again I would go with the SR 22 which looks a lot like an arch angle but not as cheap looking. I've also got a 597 VTR and it works great! I also have a regular 597 and they improved the trigger a lot in the VTR.

I have a ruger 10/22 basic carbine that I got a few years ago. It has along the way aquired a tapco stock, a bipod, a front grip, a laser, a scope and riser and a sling. Oh and about 7 mags. It hardly ever needs cleaning, very little oil and it eats pretty much what ever I feed it. This gun is the one I and my family and friends get the most fun out of. You just can't go wrong with a 10/22 or variant.
