Suther, you have spent more than $200 in time researching a your next scope purchase, just go buy a cheapo vortex or used leupold and if you break it either send it in, or in the case of vortex take it to the store you bought it from and they will give you a new one, its really that easy in Canada. Used leupold scopes still have the full lifetime of the scope warranty that Korth has to honor The young Korth that took over from his father, is really not the nicest guy, so customer service has gone down hill, a long ways from the good ole days, that is korth who is the exclussive Leupold warranty guy in Canada, its his problem not Leupolds problem. Chances of you having to send in an older leupold for warranty is pretty slim and they are much much better value for your money than a new cheapo vortex or burris. the older leupolds were great optics. not sure why you are so worried about breaking them, they are tough, are meant to on a rifle, that is meant to be used. these aren't glass figurines.
