Dremel tool would be a great way to say "Bubba owned this." Have you ever tried cutting a straight line with a dremel?
I'd use a drop saw with plastic/aluminium blade... just lower it enough to make a nice, straight, factory-looking cut (don't go too deep)
---- Alternative
Heat up the spike to near red hot with a torch (in the area to contact the stock), then drop it on the stock and allow it to melt into the stock. Dunk it in water when it's melted all the way and remove the bubbled over excess with a razor
Do it outside to avoid inhaling plastic smoke.
*Warning* This method could ruin your stock... but could look good too
It's a gamble.
