beware of buying firearms from cabellas

They match each bolt to a specific rifle and they also test fire the rifle. There is NO WAY IN HELL that a rifle left the factory with a bolt unable to close. It's a 100% certaintly that whoever installed the bases has a screw protruding into the receiver. I suspect the OP discovered this and this is why we haven't heard from him.

I know of no retailer who would take a scope in and exchange it, be it Leupold,Zeiss, etc, they have to be sent by the owner to a repair facility.

Wholesale Sports did this for me, actually.

TC is an outstanding company and will make it right (if it wasn't a screw which it sounds like to me). Idcurrie is right every gun is test fired before it leaves the plant. Like I stated previously, if it is a rifle problem, Lyle will make it right. As to the poster who said S&W didn't renew their export permit, how is it so many of our site sponsors (Jobrooks, prairie gun trades etc etc) Have gotten new shipments of TC products in the last week?

As someone who can simply drive 20 minutes to the nearest Cabela's store, I've got to say I've never bought a gun from them. I'll drive the extra two minutes to the Wholesale Sports and get MUCH better service, and the prices are never more than $10 different in either direction, which they're always willing to adjust if they happen to be on the high side. Cabela's can shove their "take a number" ticket dispenser up their asses. I'll take good service from people interested in helping me over the Cabela's bunch any day.

That's exactly how I feel about Cabelas. The service has been lousy for me so I shop there as little as possible. I often direct friends to other retailers. It would seem that Cabelas policies and attitudes will catch up with them eventually.

I really hate that take a ticket system too. Get your ticket. Wait, wait wait. Get some help from a guy who can't so you wait wait wait for the guy who can. Select your items and wait wait wait for them to come through the little window. The experience makes me grind my teeth.

If I had this problem with Cabelas I would never shop there again. How the hell do they justify earning their profit if all they do is place a phone call to order your rifle? What, exactly are you paying them for?

If that is the case I would think he would let us know instead of throwing bombs at Cabela's.

My in fo comes from Lyle @ accuracy plus and "Kathleen Washok" from T/C sevice department. apperently since they have moved the rest of there equipment and the last of there product from the T/C plant to the smith&wesson plant this has become an issue which happend in the last week and a half.... don't know how this is going to play out for me yet but Lyle told me they have spoken to him about my barrel and it is not repairable and needs replacing but cannot ship a new barrel to canada at the moment because of the export issue.... Lyle said he was told to "do watever it takes to make him happy", that would be me.
he's supposed to get back to me next week about my prodlem. not trying to stir a pot because i love all my T/C products. just letting people know what i'm going through at the moment. i'm sure i'll be treated right and not too worried about it at the moment.
just waiting to hear how my problem will be resolved.

Is it not amazing that Whitetail Wheeler posts a problem?
H4831 makes an excellent suggestion.
There are about 50 that take up the cause.
But where is Whitetail Wheeler?
Never reappeared and the tails of "whoa" never stop.

Actually Lyle seemed a little nervous when he first called on thursday with the news about the export permit until I started talking about my ML barrel and the blackhorn 209 powder I have and just itching to try and we spent 20 minutes talking about it. He's a great guy to talk to. I'll update next week when I know more about my issue with T/C

hmm I wasn't trying to say you were lying Fergie. But like I said I know Jobrooks just got in a big order of Ventures and the new Encore Prohunters with the 26" barrel. TC has discontinued the 28" barrels. I have one for sale if your interested lol. Lyle has seemed very nice when I contacted him with just questions before, I've never had a problem with my Encore or my Renegade. They actually sent me a whole new screw set and thimbles for my Renegade free of charge. Mind you I haven't had much luck getting a hold of TC since S&W took over. Just wanted to know if they plan on making a 6.5 creedmore barrrel for the Encore, but got no answer. It could be because of the move too.

I think the OP has a case of buyers remorse or is short on cash and want's his money back. I haven't seen a reply here or a post in any other forum trying to find out what could be wrong with the gun. I know a few people that think they can use mailorder places like a gun counter. They order stuff up so they can look at it and think they should just be able to return it.

ive never had any problems before with a gun purchased from a retailer before and i have bought dozens from cabelas, russells.wholesale, frontier firearms, delselins and off gunnutz, all i know i don't need the money but if i can't get the tc predater i would rather have the cash i have a weatherby 22-250 in the cabnet. i understand its tc rifle but it was never fired and the bolt closes fine without a bullet in it and ive tried factory, reloades, cut brass, the fireing pin is not protruding and there is nothing in the barrel, all im saying if i sold this rifle on gunnutz as new you would give me negative feed back right, its not there fault the gun doesn't work but it isn't mine either and i purchased from them. im a flooring sales man if i sell you bad wood that is cupped or swelled or has wide and narrows i would take it back replace it then we get credit from the manufacture, any way thanx for your inputs and as for my spelling and punctuation its easy for people to chirp and bully on a computer typacaly weak and fearfull personality's but face to face never say a word anyway thanx all trevor

Your are correct... it seems to be the fault of the manufacturer, who provide a warranty. (USA Made and backed by the famous T/C Lifetime Warranty)

I wonder what is actually wrong with the rifle. Did you mount a scope on it?

the scope came on the rifle, the gun functions fine without ammo i tried factory ammo, reload and even unloaded cases cut to length and even cut under length still will not close its about 1/8 away from closeing tried safety on off drie fired fireing pin works bolt works real smooth without ammo, thanx trevor

whitetail wheeler, why did you buy from cabelas/online in the first place.should have just gone to see ross in macadam.he will match any one elses price on most items.or at least the price i was quoted on the model 25 savage with thumbhole stock was the same.

So you're saying they never test fired it?

Rifle problems

OK, Guys. For the past three hours or so, Whitetail Wheeler and I have been using the PM system here at Gun Nutz. I sent him a PM about noon and he answered it a while ago.

As I am in Manitoba and he is in New Brunswick, we have had to check out several things and e-mail back and forth. There is no problem with long screws, or such, The rifle arrived with the bolt in it, and there is no problem closing the action when no cartridge is in the chamber. The safety works both on an off. We have explored other possibilities, and eliminated them after testing.

What it seems to come down to is an ammunition, feeding, and/or headspace/short chamber problem. I have suggested a couple of things, and he is going to buy a brand new box of ammo, and do some range tests based on my suggestions. He is going hunting, and probably will not get back to this until later in the week, at which time, he will let me know the results. And we will go from there.

Why did I do it? Because I got tired of all the Crap being posted on this one!
.d:h:
.

i never fired this gun there has never been a shell in the closed chamber since the gun was sent to me,you cannot fire a gun you can't load. if i fired the gun and then it did not work then i would have been more inclined to look for warranty through tc,thats why i was so upsett the gun will not except 22-250 shell maybe before i send to tc i will visit local gunsmith for his advice.
