Beware the person with only one kind of rifle...?

Best/deadliest shooter I've ever hunted with, run with the Remington pumps. 760 (270), 870 and 572.

I started with the pumps, and ended up trying everything I could. Now I run all semis for hunting, and only shoot the other stuff for fun. Benelli's with comfortech stocks. R1, SBE II and ordered a comfortech MR1. wish they made a comfortech for a 10/22. They all fit/feel the same, and have similar controls.

While I am not absolutely committed to a specific Firearm/action type, I highly favor
the 700 Remington "Classic"
I have several, and they feel just right in my hands.

That's basically what I've done with all pre-64 Model 70's, from 220 Swift to 375 H&H and lots in between. Still looking for a 22 Hornet and a 458 Win Mag.

Do I support "the idea of committing to one style of rifle, but in several different calibers" ??
Yes !!
SAKO. Old ones, new ones. I love them all.
My addiction started when I saw this Sako A2 in .243 for sale at TradeEx :

I had to buy it. And, like all addictions, that was just the beginning.
Yesterday I sold my last non-Sako. What will I do with the money? - buy another Sako, of course!
Maybe I'm boring. But I'm not bored. =)

And, if they all look exactly the same, your wife would never need know that you have more than one rifle...... This may be a brilliant idea.

Not in my house. Mine can count. In her words..."the square thingy with the round thingy". All she needs to do is count all the "thingy's" in the safe and the jig is up.

And Savage is right. I'm kinda getting all hooked on the military/sporter 98 actions. They're kinda kool.

Plenty of folks out there partial to a specific model and I can't argue that familiarity with your action of choice is a good thing but individual rifle models are often tailored to an application. I wouldn't want to punch paper all day with my mountain rifle or pack my target gun through the hills though both are CRF mauser derivatives. Of course a nice sporter is usually a good compromise of functions, so if it's your thing I say go for it.

same rifles work for me, i like the familiarity of same rifle, different caliber. and i suppose a lot could do with style of action you prefer. i'm a winchester model 70 fan, so i stick with what i know.

Naw got to move around get the whole experience
22 bolt semi .milsurp ,.shotgun, larger caliber bolt good times all of it
