Beware US antique gun seller - FairFaxx

yes... and he refuses to send my refund by bank wire because it will 'cost him $25', yet the registered letter he sent me cost $25 to mail. I paid him by bank wire, BTW.

He also charges $50 shipping for a gun that can be sent for $30.

Alot of Sellers over charge on shipping.

So i point out the section to sellers on GB of the Postal code showing Canadian postal MOs as long as there in USA funds can be Cashed.

WOW! I've had a few PMs from some people who have also been burned by Leo Hamel.
Sounds like he makes a habbit of sending JUNK to Canada.

I think I should post this over @ the British Militaria forums too. I bet there are some more unhappy customers there too.

I seen his Response to your Complaint,

The thing with him is (if ya see a gun ya just have to Buy) to ask for more pics tho he can hide alot pictures tell alot to.
If he wont send you more pics dont pay more than a steel of a price for the gun.
If ya get it dirt cheep knowing it needs TLC then thats not so Bad.
Tho if its a Very nice gun and ya get it dirt cheep he will make up Excuses to not send it either. that Happened to a Freind of mine on CGN
Paying good money for jumk thats not good.

Theres sellers on GB with more than 2000 Feedbacks with maby 1 neg feedback or 0.

Tell him you have contacted the RCMP regarding illegally exporting a firearm and money order related fraud. See if he changes his tune.

Nah - contact USPS and ask them about postal fraud. They should be able to tell you what to do next. This guy broke the law by trying to perpetrate a fraud throught the mail. The US government takes that seriously, it is a federal crime, not state.

Postal fraud, shipping firearms over the border, you could get him right F*cked.

If he's the dirtbag he sounds like he is, I'd like to see it happen.

Theres nothing wrong with shiping firearms over the border if there Antiques!
lets not get to carried away here eh ;)

I guess your talking about the Modern gun he sent as Antique.
Im sure that happens alot but makeing a big deal about this with the USA postal service or what Ever will just make things Worse for us not him.
Thats the way it always goes. :(

Dingus is right. Don't blow up your own ship just to catch one rat.

Not to worry, I'm done with this guy. Lesson learned. I have a few more feedback opertunities @ GB and I plan to keep this thread active to be sure the newcomers to the antiques game won't miss it. I'll be satisfied with that, and if it gets a little harder for Leo Hamel to sell his junky guns to Canadians because of it, so much the better.

It wouldn't hurt to talk to USPS about the fradulent money order and find out what they recommend. Wouldn't have to dwell on the nature of the goods shipped, since they are legal and not the problem. He thinks he is immune to prosecution because he's bilked Canadians. Perhaps he doesn't realize he's breaking US laws, and subject to US prosecution for that. Mail fraud is no joke.

Postal fraud in the US is a federal crime! If you wrote the right letter to a news outlet and
pushed the fraud and especially sending a modern gun over the border through the mail it would sure as heck land that guy in a US Federal pen. However the last thing we want to do is to let the hysterical anti gun press know about the regs for antiques. I have had a couple packages in my mailbox that would have shocked a sheeple reporter ,especially the one from Dingus:D

You've got him! This is why everyone should insist of shipping thru the US Postal Service.

In the US they take "mail order fraud" very seriously.

I know of people who were being jerked around who mentioned that they were contacting the Postal Inspectors, Problems Stopped Immediately.

If he has any brain cells, you shouldn't even have to call them.

since you already know where he lives, do a web search for his local police or sheriff address and print up a letter with details about whats going on. you don't have to give any personal info just that this person is dealing in modern/antique firearms and shipping them without going thru proper channels. mail the letter the next time you are in the states or give it to somebody who lives there. nobody knows where you are or who you are. He lives in California with some screwed up guns laws also.
