Big Bad Wolf

There looks to be a fist sized hole just behind it's right shoulder....I think if it's real that their should be some more pics turning up.... it's hard to say if it's real or not; I know when I was in GP I seen some real pics of wolves hanging from their hind legs said to be 180+ they were huge.

Wolves are almost as bad as bears for people mis-judging their weight.

A fargin huge wolf is 140lbs, and most of that weight will likely be due to moose belly.

180 is unbelievable for a wild wolf as well if you ask me.

Deer hunting in Lodge Pole in 06, had those buggers come in on me & a buddy at 8 in the morning with a couple of rattles at a battery no less! Not that big, but a few making a three way call with us still talking in normal voices & making themselves visible out at about 400-500 meters. We couldn't believe how brazen they were. Found out later by another hunter that they were coming in on the rattle in that area, looking for the exhausted buck to take down. They were doing this 24/7 apparently.
That has to be the weirdest G.D. thing me or my friend had ever seen in the bush...

Here's exif data that follows all pictures unless they have been altered and renamed. Appears to have been taken with a cell phone.

Gps was not activated on the phone or that info would be there as well.
Click on the picture and save to desktop.
Open picture in desktop.
right click on the image and choose properties.
click on EXIF DATA
all info will scroll out about the picture including gps if it is recorded on the camera. Remember this when you post pics if you have gps on your phone or camera that anyone can tell the exact location of your photo. Yes baring the position of youre favorite fishing hole, cottage, camp, your home etc. Public information;););). That's how I can usually tell what you boys are using for cameras:D.
Lionhill ya'll should know this if anybody does:D:D

Mammals of BC, by Dr. Ian McTaggart Cowan.

(wolves) "Maximum weights reach and very occasionally exceed 140 pounds."

Republic do know where it was shot?I heard it was shot in the edson area but the post said drayton valley.just curious I did some hunting in the drayton area.A friend of mine was helping the U of A with a cougar study and the guy from the U of A was saying there was real wolf problem in the grand cache area .they were going to try to make the alpha pair sterile to see if they get ran off or the keep there area.

Don't know much
I saw a black wolf at work toady, it looked like a coyote compared to the one in that pic

The picture has some obvious issues that make it look photochopped. Having said that, if I picked up my buddies 140lb Akbash I think it would look the same sized against me (I'm 6'2). Don't bother asking for a photo- his dog doesn't humor fools. :D

There is one mounted in the gov't offices west of Field that is close to that size, full mount ,it was killed on the hiway(#1).They hang out round 15 miles west of Field.
We have a pack around here ( Golden) but I don't think I have seen one that big, but next time we go goher hunting, I think I'll take the new blind, and a camera, and see what's coming for dinner, at worst it will be pics of coyote ,ravens and a baldy or 2. 'll post some pics when I get them

No shadow from the guys legs. Hmmm.

Something in that image looks wonky. Why does the grass go brown behind the dude, but not at the edges?

LH

The tail also disappears into the ground, but that is only noticeable when you stop laughing. :D

Sherlock Homes rocks.

I doubt the picture is a fake, but I doubt it weighed 200#.
I remember reading some time back the heaviest wolf recorded came out of Alaska, 170 # or something, in the 1920's or so.

There's big wolves around, but guaranteed most will guess the weight as being higher than actual.

i have attended a fur auction were there were hundreds of wolf pelts. they hang from racks nose to the ceiling.i would estimate the length of the pelts from nose to tail at 7 feet 6 inches .the heads of the largest wolves rival bears for width of skull as i have seen them side by side.to say that i was impressed would be an understatement.as to the weight i have no idea but i would think it would be possible for large wolves to weigh 150 pounds.

It's faked...

if you look closely in Photoshop, you will notice that the edges of the wolf to the background (left side) is very dithered, but the right side of the hunter is fairly crisp..

the image of the wolf is not the same left of dithering as the hunter.. it looks like it's been overlayed/modified

Here are two examples (plus a part of the image that they forgot to tough up (by the hunters head)

you guys are so funny

this pic is real....i saw the wolf in person a few weeks ago when this guy was on his way home with it.

it was shot on a bear bait near edson with a 30-06

the 200+ weight was just a guess...and pretty damn accurate one

you can go to trophy book archery in spruce grove and see the other pictures of the same wolf in different poses if you think this one is fake LOL

its getting a full body mount as we speak and the whole thing is on video soon to show up on Wild TV....or maybe that was faked too?!?!?!

haha just ribbin
