That might be a ceracote job, as the factory is doing black only - given it's a brand new product, I would not have expected them to do anothing other than black. With other brands, the coloured ones normally only get launched a lot later than the black ones.

Thanks for sharing.

If I were to order the dnt today how long until it would come in? Trying to pick between the Arken and the dnt. Already have the ep5 5-25 and love it

Personaly I prefere the look and reticle on the ep5 gen 2. I hope we will eventually be able to get our hand on this one at some point.
You might have to import one (and pay a hefty premium) in order to get exactly what you want, as the Arken-labelled version is apparently not being marketed in Canada. Instead, we get this Day-Night Technologies-branded scope from Arrken's parent company....

This is what arken is saying on their website: We do not sell/ship outside of the US (dealers or customers). We will remain focused on providing products within the US until we can fill the demand.

This imply that at some point, they will export them abroad. I dont mind waiting a year but im just wondering if we have any aproximate time frame.

Unfortunately Arken will probably never export scopes to Canada due to ITAR restrictions. In over 5 years they have never exported a single scope.

And the DNT reticle is a more modern reticle with 0.2 mil hash marks - the Arken VPR reticle is still using “outdated” 0.5 mil hash marks.

But to each their own.

The DNT also has slightly nicer machined turret caps and better engraving.

Also DNT and Arken don’t have the same owners - 2 different companies with different owners.

When are you planning on shipping the pre-paid scopes, Robbie? I see that other vendors are now advertising the same scope for sale....
I received a LOT of them this past weekend, but as per my website and the email communication I sent to all customers, I’m in the UK at the moment and only back in Calgary tomorrow (Saturday) evening. So ALL orders will be shipped out on Monday. I’ll start packing all the orders on Sunday.

The .2 mil is indeed the only downside for the arken. But help me understand, if its not arken itself exporting, some importer is bringing them in. I mean gotenda just recieve a batch of every model arken has except the ep5 gen2. My question why cant we get the ep5 gen2?

Also im a bit skeptical with the second company thing. Why would they do that if the product is pretty much the same? They himself said that they are having a hard time meeting demand. Why would you open a second company using the same ressource? This whole thing isnt clear to me and that why im incline to stick to the tried and true brand.

It's more complicated than what you're thinking. Arken Canada is the official CANADIAN distributor. The Arken EP5 Gen 2, is a US only unit, solely for the US market. The rest of the world is now getting the DNT. Arken USA and DNT are not the same company, and owned by different people. The DNT brand is the factory's own internal brand now. They were the ones that developed the Zulus and the Thermnights, and now the DNT riflescope. The DNT riflescope uses the same materials, built on the same production line, by the same people - just different owners.

I have ALWAYS had every single model that Arken make in stock as I order massive quantities every month. But there are certain products NOT sold in Canada, like the LH line.

It would be much better if you called me and asked your questions over the phone - I'm not going to go into all the nuances of Arken vs DNT on a public forum. Too much info, and it's not all public knowledge.

I will be back in Calgary on Sunday, so you're welcome to call me on Monday.

Cheers

Robbie

Thanks Robbie for taking the time to answer my questions. Ill give you a call next week.

I've got the scope today. it looks very nice. Love the reticle with the floating dot in the centre.
Reticle illumination is a lot brighter than on my Vortex PST2. Can't wait for the weekend to take it out to the range!

Thanks Robbie! Shooting Warehouse

Glad it got to you safely Eugene.

Just a word of caution - please be VERY careful with the "grub screw" that keeps the zero stop screw in place - use a GOOD quality allen key (not the one supplied with the scope as its not great quality) and just very very gently snug it against the zero stop screw as those 2 screws are aluminum and can deform with too much torque. I literally just lightly turn the zero stop screw downwards until I feel the slightest resistance, then stop turning. I then very gently screw the grub screw until I feel it touch the zero stop screw, and then just very gently snug it up with not a lot of torque at all.

Have fun with your new scope!!! And thanks for the support.

Cheers

Robbie

I went out to the range with the new DNT scope today, and here is my first impression.
-The scope does not have that WOW view through the scope with the image popping out of the scope at you virtually without a bezel for which Arken EP5 Gen1 is famous for. This was something I was really hoping for
-Reticle at full magnification is usable despite my initial concern
-The glass is pretty bright and clear
-The reticle illumination is very crisp and super-bright at highest setting
-Turrets!!! I loved the turrets. they are so tactile. Great clicking through the settings.
-Zero stop is decent, and as Robbie mentioned the mechanism is made in a way that you don't need to tighten it too much.

Overall impression is very positive so far.
