Bighorn or Ultimatum action?

I'll second the ks arms actions.. bought one last year, 3 lug Magnum boltface, left hand.. very nice action. AICS stage 2 stock required no milling of the chassis, just a bit of the skin for the bolt release (as already mentioned) and a bit off the skins at the rear tang

I have a Bighorn, its ok I guess but not worth the $ imo, I have cycled the Deadline and I think I honestly prefer it over the TL3, Deadline will be my next action!
BTW that action impressed Guntech, that should say enough!!

Steve, I was also going to say that the 3 lug KS action does need inletting at the rear as well. (At least in a Cadex.)

Yup, thats correct. minor inletting. Also a little on the AICS skins for the rear tang. Apparently they have shortened the newer 2-lug to alleviate that. We shall see.

There is also the Cadex actions if you want to keep it Canadian (both the sheep dog and shepherd) though I'm not very familiar.

We actually did a couple on the Cadex and they are very nice as well. Supply is still very difficult though. Wicked 4-lug, excellent machining, good features, and under $1,400

Hey All looks like ZAI has a new cut down version of the TL3 called the ORIGIN at a promotional price pulled this off their FB page. Pretty good price even with the exchange for a custom, Gary Eakins calling Gary! LOL.

Guys, I thought I would point out a few things regarding Ultimatum here. I am sales manager for the company and I deal a lot with product development. I started just after the first U300s hit the market.

The "bolt timing" is most definitely not wrong. We moved from a near 100% #### on open design from the U300 to a split #### on close design for the deadline. One thing to keep in mind is that the action needs a bit of a break-in period. It will get smoother after the bolt has been cycled for a bit. The #### on close design is awesome. Splitting the cocking effort makes a lot of sense. Your rifle is always more steady while you push down on the bolt.

Now, regarding the "inlet" issues; Most stock and chassis manufacturers will have a "deadline inlet" for most their products. This is happening this year. Drop-in fit on new chassis or stocks.
For the end user "recycling" a R700 chassis or stock, it will work, but some adjustments will be needed (and this is not just with our action.. other actions out there need the same things done)
The action uses r700 triggers, it shares the R700 bolt spacing and recoil lug location, but it was never designed to be a drop-in for R700 stocks or chassis. We do have features that don't necessarily allow for a drop-in fit with R700 stocks/chassis. In most cases, rear action screw need to be shortened (1mm ish depending on the chassis/stock). The magazine latch will need to be trimmed by the same amount depending what magazine you will be using. Some chassis need additional clearance for the sear/trigger... some... not all. And That's it.

If you guys have any questions, I'll be happy to answer.

Happy shooting!

Mausig field arc controlled round feed looks super duper. I think we gotta show some real appreciation for these Canadian peeps of ours for taking the plunge and making Canadian built actions. I would however prefer to keep the cocking of the bolt on the upward motion. These new Canadian actions lookhigh quality and I’d like to try one out yet. Meanwhile I wait to see one for myself I’ll try and get me a bighorn tl3. Not as much interest for the bighorn origin though

there are some wicked deals on some new actions out of the states.

Bighorn has a new action as does ARC. The Bighorn actiom is called the Origin and looks like the TL3 but with some cost saving measures.

And Patriot Valley Arms has just dropped a sub $2000 (USD) PRS Production Division ready rifle with 6 Dasher as an option. I don't even have my Dasher barrel in hand and I already want one!

I just saw that today. That is an awesome PRS rifle on a budget. Besides a bubba'd up Rem 783, I don't think there is anything out there that can beat it at that price. Great options, chambered up by a top notch smith, at an exceptional price.

Agreed, there is a lot to like there. Bang for buck (pun intended) is very high. These are great times to be a gunnie!
